Althea

Wearing my ripped jeans, and cute striped blouse, I sprayed my strawberry perfume, and brushed out my hair, I only wore a little bit of make up, going for the natural look I go for everyday. I looked in the mirror one last time.

"Tonight, you'll forget" I whispered to myself. Hearing Nate's car honk outside, I got my purse and walked out the house, making sure to lock it. Nate rolled down the window, he was wearing a grey t shirt, and black pants, I've got to admit, it was kinda of... hot.

The colour grey suited him a lot ,his pants fitted his thighs well. "Come in" he smiled, when I entered his car, a whiff of cologne hit me, I smiled at the smell. He started to drive, and it became awkward, I somehow thought this was a date, but blushed at the thought. "If you're thinking this is a date" he paused.

I guess he figured it out, "I guess it's a date, but friendly" he chuckled and I giggled. We drove for an hour, and I was getting concerned that this place was so far.

"Where are we going, exactly?" I asked, but Nate laughed, "don't worry, I'm not kidnapping you, were going to bofire-ish thing" he said, looking at the road. I wondered why we were going all the way out of town for this. "But why so far?" I asked, and he looked at me, "because, I'm leaving tomorrow for a business meeting with Lenny, and I want to spend time with you, even though I'm only going for three days" he said, and looked back at the road.

"Oh, that's nice, don't worry, Marcl's coming back tomorrow night, so I won't be lonely" I smiled, but Nate frowned, "I don't like Marcl" he admitted, my eyes widened.

"Oh, well his girlfriend cheated on him, so if you don't mind, I'll be comforting him" I said, adding a bit of confidence to my sentence, "well, I was hoping you'd visit Melanie, since Lenny is going too" his voice was low. I sighed.

"You know, I can't just visit everyone at the same time, Melanie, my mum, and Marcl" my voice was shaky, and Nate took a deep breath, "I know, and I'm sorry, I told you this was a worry free night, sorry" he apologised, I sighed, and tried to hold a smile, "it's okay, I get it, you don't want Manny and Melanie alone, it's fine, I'll go visit" I said, and touched his bicep, his body went tense, then softened.

"Thanks, I really don't want to mess this friendship up" he said, somehow when he said 'friendship' my heart ached. I looked down, my hands on my lap, as we listened to the songs on the radio.

After about am hour later, Nate pulled up at a huge cabin, which was surely in the woods, we got out, and I didn't realise how cold it would be, "Here's my coat" Nate said, and covered me with his coat, once again, I thanked him, and he grabbed my hand, pulling me towards the trees.

"Wait! In there?" I pulled back, on Nate's hand, he let out a deep chuckled, "yea, that's where everyone is" he said, as if he's been here before, I sighed, trusting him, and we proceeded to walk. The deeper and further we got into the woods, I clutched onto Nate's arm more.

We finally saw a faint yellow, orange light, and dancing shadows, as we walked closer there were people, kissing, hugging and laughing, one the of girls spotted us, and waved.

"Everyone, Nate's here!, and he's got a girlfriend" she screamed, I blushed and everyone cooed. "It's alright, they're nice, but crazy" Nate said, and sat on a log, in front of the fire. He patted the seat next to him, but there was a couple making out, pretty hard beside him, he rolled his eyes, and gave me that 'it's normal' face.

I sighed, and sat next to him, making sure I was legitimately shoved right on his side, and his arm protectively went over my shoulder, "so who's the babe?, and how much?" one guy came up to us, he looked high, his eyes were red, and he smelt of marijuana. Nate tensed up, "sorry not for sale, find your own toy" he said, deeply. But the guy kept looking at me.

"Come on, I'll only take ten minutes" he whined, but Nate stood up, he was much taller than the junkie, "I said, she's not for sale, now go!" Nate barked, and he left. Nate got back to my side, and hugged me, "sorry, some people here, also do some weird things" he whispered. I giggled, "it's fine, as long as you're here, it'll be fun" I whispered back.

I looked around, people were free to be them, they danced, expresses love, and even did drugs? It was weird, but it felt like a cozy place. Another guy came up to us, and handed us two cups, I assumed there was alcohol in here, but Nate denied it, and said it was apple juice, he said that the people here are all friendly, and support everyone in their own way, wether they'd be LGTB, vegan, another race, and other things. I see why he liked it here.

The night was spent, with me and Nate laughing, in front of the fire, making jokes, and telling each other how much we hate peanut butter, I also found out that his middle name was named after a wild animal, cougar. Sadly our moment ended, when it started to rain, and everyone rushed to the cabin, leaving Nate and I alone, the fire was still visible, but slowly fading from the rain.

Nate and I intertwined fingers, as we walked back to the car. While we were walking, I accidentally dropped Nate's coat, that I had taken off, we both went down to pick it up, but I noticed Nate had a tattoo, on his hand.

"Never knew you had a tattoo?" I said quietly, Nate smiled, and held my hand, it was at that moment, where all existence froze, and it was only Nate and I, his eyes darted into mine, I couldn't even describe how it felt.

He leaned over, I was hesitant, my breath hitched, I was nervous, and it wasn't the best time.

But I leant over too.

His lips grazed over mine, and finally, he kissed me.
