Now, don’t be frightened, look my dear
sit down and please and do not fear
The words that I have come to say
my head is fine, it's all OK
I need to tell you while I'm here
so gather round, come right up, near
Some advice for you and all you know
This is something very important so……
I woke this morning, in the pond
I was clinging to a palm leaf frond,
I blinked into the water see
And found there was something wrong with me
I realised I looked rather odd
For my ears were missing, both of them gone
I nearly drowned; it was quite close
I’d lost my only shoe and both
My ears from either side my head!
Without them I’ll be surly dead
I had to look for them right away
I could not leave it another day
But those ears were hiding very good
I checked all the places that I should
The bathroom, kitchen, toilet to
Oh woe was me! what could I do
The dog’s bed was the next place to look
After that I checked every book
That we had on the bedroom shelf
I wonder, I began to think to myself
If my ears have gone behind the couch
All I found was a chewy, a pencil and a pouch
But not my ears! O where were they
I needed them back, and right away
I began to scream, my ears are gone!
I wonder, I wonder, just how long
It will take me to fall over and die
What if next I loose my eye?
O, I had to find my ears but and came
To wonder if they were down the drain
On one last search; they were not there
I began to pull out all my hair
And as I pulled, in the mirror I stood
And saw something marvellous, if I would
There where my ears! Hidden under my hair!
They never left, they were just there
All along they had never left my head
So now I will not end up dead
And this the lesson I tell to you—
Don’t wet your hair,
Whatever you do
