The next day, woke up in the infirmary feeling fresh, and without pain. I loved Alysa's power.
I sat up in my bed and looked around. Everyone else was still here, too. I guess we had fallen asleep talking.
Alysa sat up in her bed. "Oh hey, you are up." She said, rubbing her eyes and yawning.
I didn't understand everything about Alysa's power. She was EXTREMELY connected to her injured patients. The six of us were pretty much directly connected to her mind anytime we were hurt. She knew when we were hurt, when we woke up, when there was a complication. Sometimes she could feel our pain. The closer the bond, the more painful it could be for her.
Her intuitions were limited though, and even she didn't know how to control it completely.
"Yeah. I'm hungry." I said, standing up. I tested my leg out of habit, even though I already knew it would be perfectly healed. Amazing.
I looked down the side of my leg, and all that remained was a long, thin, pink scar. It was noticeable, which I wished it wasn't, but I'm glad to have a leg at all.
"I'll make some breakfast. Get the team up." I said, walking out of the room and into the kitchen.
Everything around head quarters was pretty much back in its place. As if nothing had happened at all. Captain must've sent some people.
I began making waffles as the team started filing into the kitchen and sitting around the island. I don't know why we had a dining room to be honest.
Nathan stopped in the doorway. "Okay, she gets blown up and now she's making breakfast for you lazy assholes."
Everyone shrugged, mumbling, and I laughed. "I feel great. Plus I'm not eating ANYTHING, ANY of them make." I said pointing around the room.
He sighed and put up his hands, sitting at the island.
About twenty minutes later, I finished making the waffles and put out a plate for everyone to take from.
After everyone settled down, we decided to get serious and discuss the plan, now that we had a lead.
"I think we should just go for it. We have the address of their laboratories." Carson said.
"Well we need a plan, dumbass." Rianna said sarcastically.
"I say that we go in through the roof like we usually do. Ashlyn use her X-ray eyes, then Nathan and Joe teleport us right into the boss mans office." Sophia said.
"I agree. But they heard our whole plan. Don't you think they'll be expecting us?" Nathan countered.
The room was silent for a second as we all thought. "No! SDI heard us. Red Sky didn't." I said, snapping my fingers.
"What if SDI contacted Red Sky?" Rianna argued.
"I guess that's a chance we'll have to take." Joe said with his arms crossed.
"Okay, everyone gear up. We leave in half an hour." I said, clapping my hands, and walking briskly out of the room.We were all ready to go half an hour later and we gathered by the elevator. I grabbed my bow and threw my black hood over my top.
We rode the elevator up to the roof and went from there. We never travelled on foot when we all went on a mission together because it caused too much commotion and attention. So we had our system. Carson's speed meant he could leap great distances, so he hopped roofs with me. I had the most combat and training so I could hop roofs like a ninja. Sophia couldn't exactly fly, but with her mystical powers, she could levitate. She sucked at jumping, but with her levitation she could suspend herself in midair long enough to get her to the next roof. And Joe and Nathan had their teleporting powers.
Joe and Nathan always say it would be faster if me and Sophia each stayed with one of them and teleported. My response to them was always "suck a lemon".
Carson always took the lead because he was fastest, so he put the coordinates in his watch and took off at what he called "jogging pace", which was sprinting for us, so he always stopped periodically for us to catch up.
I sprinted roof from roof, landing each jump with perfect agility and grace.
After about a half an hour, Carson finally stopped at a rooftop, gazing in the distance at another building. It didn't have any signs on it or anything, but it was obvious they didn't care whether they were incognito or not.
The building was a tall skyscraper and looked pretty much like a newly built New York style tower. We hopped over to the skyscraper so we were on the roof of società di cielo rosso.
Sophia looked at me and I nodded. I blinked, and my eyes changed pale purple.
I walked quickly over the top floor to map out the top floor office and I jogged back to the others.
"Ok I think that looks like the main office," I said pointing to a spot in the far corner of the building. "The main office is pretty big. It takes up like 1/5 of the whole floor." I said.
Carson raised his eyebrows.
"Sorry, anyway yeah the rest of the floor is just a few cubicles and maybe two offices on the other side, but there's people bustling all over the place." I said.
"Are they people-people or are they robot-people?" Nathan asked, crossing his arms. So much attitude.
"Uhh, lemme check." I said. I switched to heat detection and scanned the floor again. "Nope just people on this floor. But I think there's A.I's on the other floors."
"Ok we should take out the whole top floor before we pay the boss a visit. Everyone try to keep an extra eye on the door so he doesn't slip out. Someone put something against the main door so no one gets in or out. Take everyone out. Let's go." Nathan said quickly.
We broke our little huddle and I pointed to where we should enter. We teleported inside and dropped right in the middle of the office. Everyone froze what they were doing and there were about 20 pairs of eyes on us. Then the fight broke out.
Everyone whipped out a gun of some sort, and began shooting everywhere, and I created a shield around the five of us. Everyone stood in shock for a moment, not realizing we had powers, so we took that as our chance, and split up, taking out people one by one. Joe walked over to the main door and tore the door handle off of the door as if it was made of paper.
I was encircled by 4 different men, all much larger then me. I positioned my feet and made a "bring it on" gesture with my hands.
They all charged at once and started throwing punches, and I dodged pretty much all, returning each of them with more power.
Eventually, I took all of them down,
and I scanned the scene around me. To my right, Sophia threw her head back, her eyes glowing bright, and a wave of power brought everyone around her to their knees, until they collapsed. I grinned.
"DUCK!" I heard Nathan bellow behind me, and I immediately fell to a crouch and looked up to see Nathan's sword pinning someone to the wall, penetrating his his abdomen.
I turned around. "Thanks," I chuckled.
He nodded and spun around, taking out the guy who was running up on him. I turned around and saw Carson beating the hell out of a guy, punching him with repeatedly at an extreme speed just because he could. It was clear the guy was already way past unconscious.
"Carson!" I scolded.
He stopped, and gave a sheepish smile. I rolled my eyes and picked up a chair. I hit a woman over the head with it who was aiming her gun at Joe. He spun around and looked from the woman, then to me.
"Oh thanks." He muttered. I winked with a smirk, because I knew he hated me and probably didn't like showing his gratitude.
After we cleared the whole floor, we regrouped to the middle of the office.
Instead of talking about it, I marched to the boss's door, and kicked it in swiftly.
Behind the desk was a middle aged man, and he continued typing at his desk as if we hadn't even been here. He was tall, with shoulder length, silver-ish, ugly, greasy hair, glasses that sat on the edge of his long narrow nose, and he was wearing a suit, but I could see under his desk, he was wearing slippers. I resisted the urge to turn my nose up.
"WP-8GENCY! DONT MOVE!" Nathan yelled, drawing his sword.
The man sighed and slowly closed his laptop with a soft click.
I glanced to Sophia and Nathan and my grip tightened on my bow.
"Ms. Chamberlin," he started. I had my hood on, so I was confused how he knew who I was. "Ms. Everard...Mr. Shinagawa...And is that Mr. Hyde and Mr. Kim behind you? Ah. Well I've been just waiting to meet you for a long while." He said with a smooth, deep, and eerily calm voice that made my skin crawl. He honestly sounded high.
"Quit the bullshit. What's your name asshole." Joe spoke up aggressively, stalking over to the front of his desk.
"I've been with this company for a long while." He started again, and Carson threw his arms up, exasperated. "I've got to say that I have never seen five children get past our security desk with such ease."
"We came in through the ceiling asshat. And we aren't children." I snarled, glaring intensely.
"Ah," he sighed, nodding and looking down at a spot on his desk. I looked at him like he was insane.
Every question we asked, was countered with another hippy dippy response and my blood was boiling so much, I thought it was spilling out of my eyes.
But when he took a bagel out of his desk and asked if we minded he took his lunch break, I reached my breaking point and flipped his desk, and it flew to the left of his office.
I grabbed the collar of his shirt and got up in his face. My abilities were linked to my eyes, and so I had a huge attraction to eyes. I saw the ugly in people through their eyes, and the man that stood before me, had creepy eyes.
I was shaking with anger and I yelled in his face. "WHATS YOUR NAME?!"
"Peter Lucas." He answered in monotone without hesitation.
I was taken aback and glanced over my shoulder to the others, and they flinched.
I ignored it and turned back to him. "Who do you work for?!"
"SDI Force." He replied.
I was extremely confused and suspicious that he was complying so easily. I would've thought he was setting some sort of trap or playing a game, but he suddenly had a look of terror in his eyes.
"Why do you need all the plutonium?" I asked.
"The boss has big plans for it."
"What're your plans?"
"I don't know might get some Burger King on the way home—"
"Not your plans dumbass. What're your boss's plans with the robots and radioactive stuff?!"
"He won't tell us. We don't have high enough clearance."
"Who is your boss?" I asked finally, my grip tightening on his collar.
He started sweating, but his expression didn't falter the least bit. He didn't even blink, and I was creeped out. "We...don't know his actual name...but his code name is Cougar...no one has ever met him." He said slowly.
I asked several more questions before knocking his ass out and turning back around.
"Now I don't know if we can trust any of that." I said, jabbing my thumb at Lucas's unconscious body.
"Ash, are you okay?" Nathan asked, looking at me in shock.
"Uh, yeah...why?" I said slowly.
"Uh...well...uh..." he stumbled.
"YOUR EYES CREEPY AS SHIT." Joe said suddenly.
I gave him a look and turned to Sophia. She tossed me a mirror. I opened it and gasped at my reflection.
The irises of my eyes were practically glowing pure golden, and now I knew why everyone was freaking out. They had never done that before.
And something seemed to click in my head the same time it did with Sophia.
"Ash, you have hypnotic eyes." She said in shock.
Before I could respond, an army of men, women, and robots broke down the door.
