I wake up, groggy from a restless night of sleep. I hear my alarm screaming at me to get up. I unplug it and sit up. I throw my feet over the side of my bed. As my feet hit the ground, chills run down my spine. I shiver as I stand and walk to my window. I open the curtain. It's 21 degrees outside. I picked the worst time to move. I'm not a normal, everyday teenager. I have 'powers'. Not just one. I can make electricity and use it however I please, I can do the same thing with flames. Somehow, I have a quickened ability to heal, but my favorite one is that I can morph into anything I want. Any person or animal. It just has to be a creature that was once or is alive. Including dinosaurs. But I prefer not to morph into them.

None of my family knows. Ever since I was little, I felt that I should keep it a secret. I break out of my thought and put a long sleeve shirt on and sweat pants. I put on some tennis shoes and go into the bathroom. I brush my teeth and run my fingers through my hair. I walk down the stairs and greet my mother. "Are you ready for your first day at another school?" She asks. I don't respond as I take my pop tart out of the toaster. She sighs. I always tell her I'm being bullied at school so that we will move. The real reason is when someone finds out about my abilities. In some cases, I had to take care of the person.

I walk outside. It's started snowing. I don't wear coats or Jackets or hoodies. Due to my fire ability, I don't get cold. I start walking to my new school. I have to make sure no one finds out this time. I don't want to have any... accidents. A boy, about my age, starts walking in front of me. He's on his phone. I look at the ground and it's not long before I hear yelling. I look up to see him slipping on some ice. Instinctively, I run and catch him.

He grunts as he hits my arms. He's heavier than expected. I use my morphing ability to make my arms stronger. Luckily, I wore long sleeves. He looks up at me, dumbstruck. "Hi." He says as he smiles. I don't respond. I drop him and he grunts. I continue walking. "What was the point in catching me then?" I hear him call to me. I make my arms go back to normal.

Suddenly, he's beside me. "I'm Johnis." He says, holding out his hand. I look at it, and I continue walking. "Okay? What's your name then?" He asks. I don't respond and he steps in front of me. "I'm not letting you pass until you tell me your name." I could kill him now. No, there are too many people around. "I'm Kei," I say blankly. "Oh, you have a voice." He says, fake surprise in his voice. He smiles again. "Let me through," I say. "Right." He says as he steps aside. He continues talking as he walks to school with me.

"Sweet! You're going to Wilson High? Awesome to have you! What year?" He says loudly. "Fresh meat," I reply, walking up the cement steps. Salt has been laid on them to melt the ice. "That's funny. Why are you dressed so lightly?" I freeze as I open the door. I turn to him "You talk a lot." I say blankly. "You don't talk enough." He says as he follows me in the building. I get my schedule from the office. I have biology first hour. "I have biology first hour too! You should sit next to me." He says, loudly. The office lady hushes him. I feel his breath on my neck and I jump. "Can you leave me alone?" I say, not trying to hide how annoyed I am.

"Nope." He says, grinning. I sigh. It's gonna be a long semester. I start walking to the room numbered 45. The boy called 'Johnis' right behind me. I find the room and sit in the back. I don't need to pay attention to any of these classes. I've heard it all before. I look up and see everyone staring at me. The bell rings and everyone hurries to their seats. A man about six-foot tall walks in the room. "Good morning," the man says. His eyes immediately fall on me. "Are you new?" I nod. "Well I'm Coach Par, and you are?" He asks.

"I'm Kei," I reply. "Tell us a little about you." He says as he sits down in his chair. "I'm 15, I'm quiet and," I pause. "I'm not here to make friends." I finish. Everyone turns to look at me. "So, you're a loner?" Coach Par asks. I nod. "Well, now that we've got that settled, everyone please take out your books and turn to page 134 and start reading, then do the key terms." He says, and everyone does just so. As I start to write down the key terms someone to my left says "That wasn't smart." I turn to see Johnis waiting for a response. "You might take it into consideration," I reply. He sighs. I finish my key terms first. I turn them in and go back to my seat.

I open the book I brought from home and start to read. Without noticing, the last 15 minutes of the class go by. The bell rings and I put the book into my backpack and sling it over my shoulder. I leave the classroom and not long after, I hear an unfamiliar voice call "Kei." I turn to see who it is. It's a tall guy with black hair. He continues towards me. "You think you can waltz in here and take over my school? Saying what is and isn't going to happen?" He says in my face. A girl with red hair standing next to him looks me up and down, disgust written all over her face.

Oh, I see. The boy is the school jock, probably the quarterback. The girl is probably head cheerleader, and they're already accomplishing so much at such a young age. The guy has probably been held back three times. I'm brought out of my thoughts by a hand grabbing my shirt and jerking me forward. "Are you listening to me, punk?" He says. I'm so close to him, I can smell his breath. I resist the urge to gag. Instead, I send a little shock of electricity to him.

He releases my shirt. "Dude, what the heck was that?" He says loudly. "What's wrong with you? Freak!" He yells as he walks away. The girl winks at me and I shoot her a bird. She quietly gasps and follows the boy. I'll probably have to kill him later. Right now, I need to get to my algebra class. As I find the room, I take a seat in the back again.
