We pick Johnis up and put his shoulders around ours. We walk out of the house as quickly as possible. "What was her abilities?" Eli asks. "She can distribute poison through touch, and she can seduce people by letting off a sweet smell, but it doesn't work so well on people like us," I answer, and he nods in understanding.

"So are we going to take him to your house?" He asks. My chest hurts. I didn't tell him about what happened last night. Only the stuff that happened before that. "No, let's go to your house," I say, trying to sound as casual as possible. "Will your mom be okay with it?" I ask. "Yeah, but my dad is going to be home." He says.

"He's pretty cool though." He says, smiling. "Okay, that sounds good," I say, trying to keep last nights memories out of mind. I haven't had any hearing in my left ear since this morning. "So, electricity huh?" He says.

"Yeah, I have three abilities." I chuckle. "So, I need to find out the last one?" He says jokingly. "Yeah," I say. Johnis slumps down and I grab a firmer grip. A patrol car drives by, and Eli looks at me. We look back to see it turn around and turn its lights on.

"Oh no," I say. "Give me your phone." I say, taking out mine and Johnis' as well. He hands it over, a questioning look on his face. I turn them all into fake IDs, that will trick his computer. "Play it cool," I say. He gives me a sly thumbs up and I hand his 'phone' back to him and slip Johnis' back into his pocket.

The patrolman steps out and I recognize him as the one who told me about my mother's death. He looks at me. "Good evening boys. What wrong with your friend here?" He says, gesturing to Johnis. "He's drunk. This is my uncle." I say nicely. I know he saw Eli at my house, but he doesn't know how old he is. "This is my other uncle, they're brothers," I say, motioning my head to Eli.

"Have any ID on you?" He asks. "Yes," Eli says, pulling out the ID that says he's 18. I take out Johnis' that says he's 21.

We hand them over. "I'll be right back." He says, giving us a strange look. He walks over to his car a opens the door, sitting inside. Eli gives me a concerning look.

A few moments later, the patrolman walks back over to us. "Everything checks out," He says skeptically "Have a nice night." He says as he nods his head and goes back to his car. We both sigh out of relief and I turn the IDs back into our phones.

"I didn't know you could do that," Eli says. I chuckle.

**Eli opens the door. "Mom! I'm home! I've got a couple of friends who are staying the night! We're going to be studying in my room, don't bother us." He calls. "Okay sweetie, do they want something to drink?" She calls. "That would be great! Kei is going to get it for us." He shouts. I give him an annoyed look.

"I'm going to take Johnis to my room, you go get us some sodas. Okay?" He says. "Okay," I sigh. I hand Johnis over to him and he slumps onto Eli's shoulder.

I walk into the kitchen. "Hello, Mrs. Holt," I say cheerfully. I see a man standing next to her. They turn to me, and Eli's resemblance to them is uncanny. "And Mr. Holt?" I say questioningly. "Oh hello dear!" She says, walking around the counter to hug me.

"Who is this fellow?" Mr. Holt says as he follows her around the counter. She embraces me briefly. "This is Kei, Eli's friend." She says. He holds out his hand, and I shake it. "You can call me Eric, Mr. Holt is too formal for me." He smiles. He lets go of my hand. "Uh, Eli wanted me to get drinks?" I ask awkwardly.

"Oh, yes!" Mrs. Holt says. "Um, I know this is weird but, Eli's other friend asked for milk?" I say, trying not to make it weird. "Of course! Is soda okay for you and Eli?" She asks, pouring a glass of milk. "Yes, ma'am," I say.

"She hands me the glasses. "Eric, why don't you go say hello to Eli and help Kei with the glasses?" She says. He nods as he grabs one of the glasses of soda. I grab the milk and the other soda and we walk to the stairs.

"How'd you meet Eli?" He asks as we walk up the stairs. "He shouted at me," I say. He chuckles. We turn down the hall and towards Eli's room. Eric opens the door and Eli is sitting in a desk chair and Johnis is laying on the floor.

"Hey, dad," Eli says. "What's up?" He returns the greeting as we put the beverages on the desk. "We're just gonna be studying in here, so don't bother us, okay?" Eli says politely. "You got it. Just tell us if you need anything." He says, ruffling Eli's hair before leaving.

"I asked for milk for Johnis because it will help with the poison," I say as I sit on the bed. He turns his chair to face me and nods. "Your dad is nice," I say. "He is." He responds, taking a sip of one of the sodas.

"What do we do about him?" He asks, gesturing his glass to Johnis. "Well, we force him to drink the milk, and then I help heal him," I say. "Oh wait, I forgot to tell you, I have a really fast healing ability, and I can heal other things with it, but it hurts me, and it takes a while," I say, eyeing Johnis. "That's awesome," Eli says. "His breathing is unsteady, we need to do this now," I say.

Eli grabs a towel. "This might get messy." He says, lifting Johnis' head and putting it on the towel. "Okay," I say, grabbing the milk and getting on my knees. I pick up Johnis' head and pour the milk in his mouth and tilt his head back, making him swallow it.

Once the glass is empty, I put his head down and put my hand on his chest.

"I'm going to be really focused, so don't try to distract me," I say. He nods and I close my eyes, focusing all my energy into my hand. I push it through my fingers, struggling to keep control of how much I'm letting out. I feel my heartbeat start to slow and feel my blood flowing.

I feel a warm sensation trickle down my face and out of my left ear. A picture of Eli suddenly flashes across my vision, making me lose focus and more energy than I intended to be released.

I start coughing and take my hand off of his chest, trying to stop coughing. I feel a hand touch my back. "Are you okay? Your nose and ear are bleeding." Eli says worriedly. I give him a thumbs up.

I finally gain control of myself and stop coughing. I look at Johnis and his breathing is steady now. My energy is almost completely drained. "Are you sure you're fine?" Eli asks. "Yeah, I'm just really tired. By the way, we need to prop his head up." I say, pointing at Johnis. Eli opens his closet and grabs a pillow and puts Johnis' head on it.

"You have two pillows on your bed, why didn't you use one of those," I ask. "Because I don't want to." He says. My energy isn't coming back anytime soon.

"Take off your shoes," Eli says. I give him a questioning look before doing so and putting them by the door. "If you want, you can sleep in my bed." He says to me. I look at him with a confused expression. "You need to rest, right?" He asks. I nod. He gestures to his bed.

I shake my head no. He takes his shoes off and stands up. He plops down on his bed, before pulling the covers back, laying on his side, and facing me. He pats the bed as if inviting me. I sigh. I stand and sit down on the bed.

He pulls me down, into a laying position a pulls me close to him. He pulls the covers over us. He puts his arm around my chest and his head next to mine. He breathes onto my neck. I feel myself blushing. He kisses the top of my head.

"Eli?" I say, feeling myself get even more tired. "Yeah?" He says. "Just because of what happened at the playground, that doesn't mean we're... together," I say nervously. "I know." He says.

His warmth and smell coo me to sleep, and I can't resist.

**I wake up, confused. I look around before I realize I'm in Eli's room. Johnis is still on the floor and Eli is still holding me.

Hardly any of my energy is back. I turn to face Eli, and his face is inches from mine. I grab his face with my left hand and pull it to me, placing a kiss on his lips. His arm suddenly wraps around my waist and pulls me closer. His lips press to mine quickly. He bites my lower lip and I try to push away. He opens his eyes and looks at me. "Hey-" I whisper but he cuts me off, pushing me to my back, refusing to pull his lips from mine.

He sits up and leans above me. He puts his leg over mine as if to tell me I can't leave. He bites my lip again before pulling away and looking me in the eyes. He slides his hand up my torso, and chills run down my spine.
