Harry...

The familiar winding streets of Manchester and its buildings flew past me in a blur as I drove my Ford Cortina towards the university.

The lesser the distance becomes the more I realize how surreal it feels for me.

The university has housed me for four years now and has inevitably felt like a second home. I can't believe this is the last school year I'll be driving to and from it and be leaving permanently in just a few months. Granted I pass my grades and graduate of course, though not to boost my own ego but I've never had a problem with school since I was a kid. Why start now?

I reach the school in no time, thankful that I chose to leave Cheshire two days ago to get reacquainted with the city and get some errands done. Otherwise I'd probably share the same predicament with Jesse who'll likely be late on his first day due to his resolve of prolonging summer vacation, even though we're already in the early days of September.

I grab my things and get out of the car, grateful for the remnants of the summer weather giving me no need to dress heavier.

"Harry"

I turn around after locking the door and catch a glimpse of a familiar blonde speed walking towards me, hair whipping slightly behind her. Standing at five feet and eleven inches, Lauren was only one of the few women I know who could almost reach up to my full six feet. She had this boyish charm and hell-may-freeze attitude that oddly enough benefitted her and made her even more beautiful. Though, she may piss a lot of people off with her dry humor, my mum was one of those who loved her dearly and often teased us of being together. But Lauren is actually my best friend, apart from Louis and Jesse.

"Hey Ren" I replied with a grin, causing her to pause midway of walking and talking.

"For fuck's sake. How many times do I have to tell you it's Lauren? School hasn't even started and you're already getting on my nerves."

"What? It is your nickname."

"No it's what you and that prick Jesse came up with after I one upped you both."

I snorted. "Don't remind me."

Jesse and I met Lauren back in high school and the three of us had been inseparable ever since. Unable to decide which University to choose from, we opted to send our applications to the same ones. Jesse and I were in Lake Tahoe, vacationing with our families during the registration period. The college applications were done online and the connection was very poor, so we asked Lauren to have it filled out for us and gave her the necessary details and documents she needed to complete it.

She gave in too easily and that should have been enough warning for the both of us. Instead we had to find out during enrolment and spent almost an hour just to correct our names.

She thought Harold was already an overused mistake for me so she went with Howard. But I got to admit, I did have a good laugh when I spotted Jesse's name on the list of enrollees.

Jesus Styles.

"What? Jesse can be classified as a nickname of sort for Jesus, ain't it?"

Eventually, me and Jesse were able to see the fun in it, Jesse being more reluctant than I. We've been trying to get her back for that, though I doubt we ever could. Lauren always had something up her sleeve, much more now in college where we've been joined by the latest addition to our group – Louis Tomlinson.

It was never ideal to leave the two of them in a room, but you gotta admit they were a genius pair.

"When I remember that, Ren seems pretty acceptable don't you think?"
