Alanna...
I think my eyebrows just made home somewhere in my hairline. "What?!" I asked, in equal parts shock and vehemence. "Didn't you he –"
"I hear you. I see you. Just dance with me and after that I promise I'll stop bothering you."
Do I want him to stop? Is the first thing that popped on my mind. Of course I do.
I opened my mouth but only ended up in me releasing a breath, eyes narrowing. I didn't even know what to say. I didn't think of Harry as a liar but I can't bring myself to fully trust him either.
My phone vibrated in my palm twice and even without sparing a glance, I already knew who it was. There was only one person who'll flood my inbox when I don't reply within two minutes.
"Okay."
Harry flashed me a grin that left me with a funny feeling and then spun on his heel without any word.
What the f – was that just a ploy?
Or is he more drunk than I thought?
Yet despite my questions, my eyes remain glued to each movement he makes.
He's going to the DJ's station?
I watched him visibly lean towards Neil, whispering something to him and it looks like he agreed to whatever it was as he flashed Harry a thumbs up. They shared a laugh before Harry turned to my direction. Neither of us looked away as he neared, even when my phone vibrated for the fifth time or so.
"Sorry about that." Harry said as he stopped in front of me extending his hand out. "Had to make sure we get the right song."
"You and your songs." I placed my palm on his only to retract it instantly, surprised by the sudden jolt. Harry's eyes widened, before his dimples made an appearance. "Looks like we got sparks Eivers."
Unable to stop myself, I snorted out a chuckle. The meaning behind his words not lost on me. He gave me a lopsided grin and despite my inhibitions, it's enough to give me a sense of reassurance. Again, I tentatively reached for his hand, this time uninterrupted as his larger palm closed in on mine. He pulled me up easily.
Just like that, and the bantering mood seems so long ago.
I think I hear my phone start to vibrate continuously. But somehow, as Harry stirred us to the middle of the dance floor, it felt wrong to come back for it. We stopped walking as he faced me. His green eyes were burning into mine, sucking the air from my lungs.
No one's ever looked at me the way he's doing right now.
All of a sudden he twirled me with one hand.
"Are we going to waltz?" I forced out a laugh once I'm in front of him again. He smiled, releasing my hand. He took a step forward and cupped my cheek. I froze.
Is he going to –
"Another time...hopefully." He said, prompting me to lift my eyes from his lips...again.
"Right now" His eyes flitted downwards, gulping visibly before his endless orbs drifted upwards. "I just want you to not be afraid."
Of course he'd notice.
For the first time since I discovered it, his startling familiarity with me doesn't urge me to run away. Instead, I'm drawn in even more. I watched his pupils dilate as I took a step forward. This spurs me on further and for the second time tonight, I placed both my hands on his broad chest.
'Tell me what you really like
Baby I can take my time...'
My eyebrows rose "The Weeknd?"
