Chapter 1
A n e lla Har k son.
That was the first thing I wrote down after coming to. After the doctors and nurses had urgently shoved a pencil into my pained hands and asked me to print my name out on a pad of paper. It was the only way they could tell for sure if I was back.
Because I died.
I wasn’t aware of everything the second time I awoke, so I hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary; until the drugs wore off.
I was lying there with my eyes closed when I first heard the voices. A loud gasp had escaped my lips and my eyes flew open instantly. They sounded like whispers, hardly there but I'd heard them. Then I began to feel them.
It was an odd feeling, almost like a tugging pull to my senses, lightly urging me in every direction. This had gone on for a little while until I noticed the change. It hit around the same time the aches in my body started to surface. That was when I saw them.
Unknown faces smothered me, surrounded me with urgent curious words. I sucked in air and tried my hardest not to scream. They looked like regular people, apart from a slight translucence to their skin and a little fuzz around the edges; almost all of them were wearing hospital gowns too.
I was terrified and the pace of my heart quickened, I could hear it on the monitor to my left. The loud beeping became more insistent and I was still surrounded. But the voices decided to ease. Breathing in slowly, I squeezed my eyes shut tightly and tried my hardest to remember something. Anything, quick! The doctors had said I died yes- I got that, though it was insane and hard to imagine- But what else?
My mind was foggy and the beeping still went, which wasn't helping at all in the slightest. Frustration took over me as nothing came and a mean heavy lump magically appeared inside my throat. I thought harder again, and that was when the events of what happened finally decided to flood my brain at an instant.
I slammed my head back onto one of the soft pillow cushions that were directly behind my head, sparing me from the metal frame of the hospital bed I was in. What should I do?
I searched around me quickly, ignoring the few voices that still reached me and the figures that stood above me, but away from my face now. The movements hurt like hell but I had to do it. My thumb crushed the only red button on the remote and a bright voice came out of a speaker to my left in the space from my bed to the wall. I've always wanted to use one of these. I looked up at it and was startled to see a man standing there; he too wore a white hospital gown. Luckily, I was distracted so I didn't have the chance to scream.
"Oh you’re up! I'm your nurse, and I'm coming right over- do you need something?" My mind had drawn a blank on me again.
"I -I'm in a lot of pain," I stuttered like a broken idiot. I ignored everything around me and focused on what the nurse was saying.
"Ah, and you should be, it's your time for another morphine shot." She said.
Then she was suddenly there, walking into the hospital room. Relief flooded through me, but I must’ve looked crazed. My eyes were bugging out because I was really trying to process what I was seeing: Two children, an old woman, an old man, a few teenagers and adults.
They all looked at me and stood in place as the nurse came over with a needle. Her body passed right through them but they didn’t move. Did she even feel it?
"You can really see us," said a little boy.
He looked to be around ten years old.
The nurse may have said something important to me but I wasn't sure, I was trying to process what the boy had said.
I can see them.

A/N: This is really short, I know. It really shouldn't count as a chapter... but it can't be a prologue. :/ (I'll only be posting these authors notes every once in a while because they get annoying.) anyway, this idea came to me two days ago and I have been psyched to start up on it- so here this is... :D I hope you enjoyed reading it somewhat. AH. Please Comment and Vote, and FAN! Thanks so much for reading. (: - Jenna (ihaveapetdinosaur)
