Chapter 3

Upon arriving at Cyrus' house, Jonah took a seat in the kitchen. Cyrus made them both a drink and there was an unavoidable tension in the air.

Jonah: So look, I feel I should explain what happened with Amber.

Cyrus: What did she do this time? Did she try and make you use the labels of boyfriend and girlfriend? I know that really grates on you.

Jonah looked at Cyrus, finding it pleasing that Cyrus bothered to remember that he hated labels, it was sweet.

Jonah: Actually, it was for a much worse reason.

Cyrus: What could be worse than that?

Jonah: She was being homophobic.

Cyrus' curiosity grew as the moments went by. He wasn't aware of the fact that Amber was homophobic, he thought that she was just being a bitch.

Cyrus: I see.

Jonah: She... she said some horrible things about you.

Cyrus: Like what?

Jonah: She told me that you needed to be fixed.

Cyrus: Anything else Jonah?

Jonah: She said you were weird, you were pathetic.

There was a warmth going through Cyrus' heart, one that made him realise that Jonah was most definitely the best friend he would ever have.

Cyrus: What did you say to her?

Jonah: I told her to go with TJ.

Cyrus: You know how he feels about her too?

Jonah: Yes I do.

Cyrus: He told me earlier today.

Jonah: After she told me how weak you were and that everyone had given up on you, I decided to remind her that I would never give up on you.

The atmosphere was changing rapidly, going from tense, to hurt, to slight happiness. This was a conversation that was a real roller coaster.

Cyrus: I... Wow that---.

Jonah: I care about you Cyrus, never doubt it. You will always be so special to all of us.

Cyrus: Stop it, you'll make me cry!

Jonah: I will too if you do!

Now that they were without distraction, Cyrus knew what he wanted to do. The time had arrived and he wasn't going to let anything stop him.

Cyrus: I think it's the right time to tell you now what I was going to say earlier.

Jonah: Docious magocious!

Cyrus: It's been a while since I heard you say that.

Jonah: It's worth it to see you smile.

Cyrus: Are you always this cheesy?

Jonah: What can I say, I'm just telling the truth, you dork!

After chuckling a bit, Cyrus went serious and took a deep breath. It was make or break time for his feelings.

Cyrus: What I really wanted to tell you is...

Jonah: What?

Cyrus: I... I like someone.

Jonah: Ooh, someone's got a crush!

Cyrus: Actually, it's more than just a crush. I adore this guy.

Jonah: Are you going to let me know who this guy is?

Cyrus: Okay, the guy I like is...

Jonah: Is?

Cyrus: Is one of the most kind and gentle people in the world. He's very handsome too.

Jonah: He sounds perfect for you!

Cyrus laughed, not knowing how much longer Jonah would agree with what he had said. It was getting more and more intense as the minutes went on.

Cyrus: There's just one problem.

Jonah: There's always a chance it could be solved

Cyrus: That's not how it's going to work.

Jonah: Why, tell me the problem?

Cyrus: He's straight.

Jonah: Ah, so you've fallen for TJ?

This was becoming even more ironic to Cyrus, he never imagined that he would be talking about his feelings to the guy he had feelings for, and for Jonah to still not get the hint.

Cyrus: No, although I admit he would be my second choice.

Jonah: Well he's with Amber anyway, so probably wouldn't be a good idea to go with him.

Cyrus: Maybe she'll drive him mad too.

Jonah: He comes across as someone who likes her the way she is.

Cyrus: I guess your right.

They were becoming more involved in this conversation, but it was becoming frustrating that Cyrus had not told Jonah the truth yet.

Jonah: Can you please just tell me who it is already?

Cyrus: Okay, okay, calm down!

Jonah: The suspense is killing me!

Cyrus: Jonah, the guy I've fallen for... It's you.
