Kyo - Just an OC.

Personality and Relationships:

Childhood with her mother:

Aged 0-7

"You wouldn't understand. No one did."

When asked about her childhood, she'll often claim that she cannot remember it, she'll only express memories she has shared with Mihawk - if she trusts the person she's speaking to enough, that is.

The people who she has openly told about her mother are Mihawk and Law.

As a child, Kyo was very skittish due to taking regular beatings from her mother. She was often locked in the cellar and called a monster by her parent. How Kyo was conceived is unknown, but her father clearly didn't stick around after the fact, and he seems to have completely terrified her mother, which resulted in the woman physically abusing their child.

In her adult years, Kyo has many scars on her back that were given to her by her mother.

She was also starved a lot as kid and had to grab whatever food she could reach from the cellar window, which resulted in her eating the Crim-Crim No Mi devil fruit that granted her the power to control blood. 

The devil fruit also turned her hair red, and in a panic to these sudden changes, she managed to break out of the cellar and rush into the living room to find her mother.

However, due to the alarming change in appearance, her mother thought it was blood in her hair and got spooked - she had ended up pointing a gun at her daughter in fear but she couldn't pull the trigger on a child and in-turn, turned the gun on herself instead before taking her own life before Kyo's very eyes.

Her mother's final request before pulling the trigger was to be forgiven.

A request that Kyo has seemingly granted.  

• Mihawk had once raised the question of whether or not Kyo could have controlled her mother's blood and made her kill herself, he claims it's possible since she had just gained the power at the time and had no control over it - he pondered the possibility that her survival instinct kicked in and caused her abilities to act on impulse.

This has led to the girl wondering the same thing and feeling a sense of guilt over her mother's death that has stuck with her for many years. 

Childhood with Mihawk:

Aged 7-17

"You're not strong enough to fight pa yet, he'll kick your ass across the new world." -Kyo to Zoro upon first learning he wants to become the world's greatest swordsman.

After her mother's death, Kyo was taken away by marines, they had her on a ship ready to take her to a marine base since her biological father was unknown and due to orphaned children joining up with a pirate crew within the North Blue, they decided to take her away from that place completely.

However, she got scared while aboard the ship when they were trying to inject her with vitamins that she was missing and her devil fruit acted out on impulse, sending the ship's doctor into the wall before she ran away - only getting cornered on the edge of the ship and in a panic, throwing herself into the water, not realizing that she won't be able to swim.

Luckily for her, it didn't take long at all for somebody to fish her out of the ocean, this person being a curious Dracule Mihawk. 

He was able to tell rather quickly that it was a devil fruit user since she was sinking but also because when out of the water, she tried to attack him, failing miserably but intriguing him nonetheless.

Mihawk was strict but also caring in his own way whilst raising the girl;

He made sure she could fight if the need arises, tried to warn her of the dangers outside his protection, fed and clothed her, and finally, taught her how to read and write. 

Although he made it abundantly clear that she shouldn't become too attached to him since there will be swordsmen trying to surpass him and one day, one will succeed and it may even lead to death and that she cannot be angered by it nor can she intervene when that times comes.

At 17, she departed from Hawk-eyes and set out to sea alone, looking to see and study every single island.

Relationships:

She's often quiet and said to be difficult to befriend, but once you've gained her friendship, she's very respectable and loyal.

The first pirate she had befriended was Ace although they started off as enemies, the two had an argument upon first meeting which turned into a fight where Ace was able to disarm her so she then switched to her devil fruit, although before she got the chance to use it a pair of talons dug into her back and sent her face-first into the floor, the owner of these talons (Marco the Phoenix) decided to perch himself on her whilst blurting a cocky remark.

Surprisingly, it turned into more of a friendship, she had met the rest of the Whitebeard pirates through these two and managed to befriend many of them despite her quiet persona. 

She grew a close friendship with Ace during this time but left when her studies of other islands took her in separate directions to the Whitebeard Pirates.

She became acquainted (and subtly allied) with Luffy's crew in Loguetown. She knew he was Ace's sibling upon hearing his name since Ace had told her about him prior, she also notes that he's a lot like Ace in personality.
She soon separates from the crew, only to rejoin them for a few adventures later.

She had met Law and his crew during the 2 year timeskip when he had tried to take her heart so that he could add it to the collection he was going to send to the marines. She put up a fight with him but found that he was outmatching her, even when she used her devil fruit to try and keep him still, he teleported out of it but her abilities did pigue his intrigue. 

He took her heart but returned it upon becoming allies with her. 

Shockingly enough, this has led to a friendship of sorts.
