"Oh hey!" The sudden voice catches Kyo's attention immediately as a tray full of food is placed down in front of her, the random meal causing her brow to raise suspiciously as a brunette sits himself down opposite her with a friendly smile. "You don't eat much, right? Give these samples a taste test for me!"

It takes a moment for the male's request to sink in, the redhead taking note of his appearance in the meantime, mostly the crescent-shaped scar beside his left eye.

"Hm? Why can't your crewmates try it?" She attentively searches the man's expression for any signs of ill intention but she can't find anything that alludes to such.

He's clearly a fair bit older than her although she wouldn't be able to say exactly by how many years, his chuckle only causing her to frown faintly.

What's funny?

"Because they'll eat the whole thing!" The brunette chimes with the same big smile on his face, his hand coming up to cup his mouth, as if he's trying to go unheard by the others despite the fact that there is nobody else in the room. "I just want somebody to try it and if you're not a heavy eater, you're the perfect candidate!"

By this point the redhead's gaze had fallen back down to the food as she awkwardly pokes at it with the fork that was neatly sat beside the plate. "How do I know it isn't poisoned?" Despite her concerns, she still scoops a small piece of meat onto the cutlery but only sniffs it subtly before putting it anywhere near her mouth.

The mere sight of such a thing just makes Thatch laugh again though.

"Oh yeah, you're Hawk-eyes' daughter alright!"

Hm?

"How do you know about that?" Finally deciding that the food is safe to eat, she reluctantly takes the small piece of meat between her teeth before chewing it rather quickly, almost like a rabbit before she swallows.

I doubt the Whitebeard pirates would use underhanded methods of killing such as poisoning somebody's food so I should survive.

"Pops told us." The brunette answers honestly, he doesn't seem to be playing any mind games but the redhead still chooses to keep her guard up, just in case. "I admit, I didn't believe it at first! I mean, you two look nothing alike but you definitely have some of his traits!"

"Yes, well..." She hums quietly to herself, her eyes still observing the man before her as he stares back curiously, she's still silently debating whether or not to confide in him.

He's certainly stronger than me so if he wanted to kill me, he would've done by now.

She decides telling him some truths couldn't hurt.

"He isn't my biological father so I suppose that makes sense."

"Oh, really? What happened to your real dad?" By this point the brunette actually looks a little...sympathetic, maybe? His eyes harbour some pity to them as well as genuine curiosity as he awaits her answer.

"I wouldn't know, he had no desire to stick around." She almost cringes at herself for how bluntly she answered, a small smirk tugging on her lips as she puts her 'unfazed' front up. "Say, you didn't happen to hook up with a woman from the North Blue about 20 years ago, did you?"

Technically at this moment in time she's only 19 but taking into consideration that you carry a baby for 9 months, the date she was conceived may have been closer to 20 years ago from now.

Not that she's being all that serious anyway, as far as she's concerned her father is Dracule Mihawk, he's the only fatherly figure she has ever had and she loves him so there is no need to find out where she came from originally.

All she gets from the brunette is a hearty laughter as he shakes his head. His smile is a little contagious though, the girl has to duck her own head to hide her grin with her hood as she tries another sample from the plate.

This food isn't actually terrible.

"Nah, I'm pretty sure I don't have any kids runnin' around!" The brunette finally answers in between laughs, his finger wiping a small tear from the corner of his eye as his free hand clutches his sides. "Besides, if I did, I wouldn't tell you!" He jests playfully. "I don't know what you'd do with such information!"

"Probably a wise choice." Kyo murmurs casually, scooping a small piece of the final sample onto her fork before bringing it to her lips. "I do so love slaughtering children in my free time." Her voice is practically dripping with sarcasm but it ceases the brunette's laughter immediately, his eyes widening ever so slightly as he stares at her in slight disbelief whilst she slips the bit of food into her mouth, her face instantly scrunching up.

Ugh! That one is disgusting!

Of course, the male only bursts into a laughing fit. "Why--!" He's cut off by his own cackling, earning himself a pretty nasty glare from the redhead as he shakes his head disapprovingly. "Why would you eat the mint sauce on it's own~?"

The what?

The chuckling pirate only waving his hand dismissively as he takes the tray back.

"What was that awful crap?!"

"Ah, you're funny~! I like you, kid!" He finally huffs, his voice still a little breathless from laughing too hard as he weakly catches his breath. "Phew~! The name's Thatch by the way!"

And with that, this 'Thatch' guy is off, returning to the kitchen with the tray full of food and leaving the girl a little bewildered...as well as disgusted by the odd sauce that she had eaten.

Well, he's strangely pleasant for a pirate.
