"And? What is your biggest wish, Kyo?" Mihawk asked the 11 year old child as he watched her climb into bed, a thoughtful pout on her face as she lays down on the mattress.

"Hm...I just wanna make you proud one day, pa! I...kinda owe it to you!"

"I see, but you have a long way to go before you reach that goal."

--------

What a pain.

Mihawk has a slight glare in his eyes as he stares down at his weakened opponent, he once thought of this kid as his own but these days, she's somebody else entirely.

"Stay down." He orders once, about to move onto his next contestant.

He has studied Strawhat once already, got a taste of what Flower Sword Vista can do, however when he thought about attacking Strawhat once more, Kyo had tried to land an attack on him. She claimed she won't let him hurt these boys; by "these boys" Mihawk assumes she means Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace.

He distinctly remembers telling this girl to avoid other pirates before she departed from him at 17, it has only been a couple of years but it would seem she has already disobeyed him and made strong bonds with lost causes.

Although he must admit, she has gotten stronger since he had last seen her, if she wasn't fighting for the wrong people...he might have been impressed.

His brows furrowing as he passes the girl, he can hear her trying to stand up despite his demands, he hadn't known her to be so stubborn before.
His golden eyes shifting back to her as he grips his sword, about ready to teach this kid a lesson that she won't soon forget, this is a war. Not a game, its time she learnt that.

"You disappoint me." Is the last thing he mutters before landing another blow on her, this one is a step away from being fatal which isn't usually how he'd spar with his daughter but admittedly, he's not used to holding back on somebody who has genuinely annoyed him.

Before today, she had only ever sassed him once and that was when she was a teenager, she immediately backed down too. He had never thought she would have tried to attack him like this, in the middle of a battle, it almost feels like she is betraying him.

Ignoring everything he had ever taught her, disobeying his demands. Most would have killed for the training that she got from him but she merely disregards it all, it bothers Mihawk immensely.

Even so, she's still just a stupid kid. His stupid kid, for that matter.
His golden orbs watch as blood oozes from her body, she isn't trying to absorb it anymore with her devil fruit so she must truly be done fighting now, that's a relief. One more slash of his sword and she'd likely die, she's only small afterall.

She got easier to deal with once Ace was killed though, she got sloppy and distracted, almost as if she was grieving.
She was reckless, Mihawk had trained her not to get caught off guard, no matter what happens around her and she did just that.

He keeps himself close to her unconscious body while dealing with other pirates who try to fight him, it's tiresome.
Not fighting, he can do that all day, but to think that even when she's 19 and has gone off into the world to live her life, Kyo still needs his damn protection.
Even after she tried to attack him, he still helps her.
Though, he knows that her intention would never be to kill him, he taught her not to hold back and to attack with intent to murder, but with him? No, she doesn't have that streak in her.

He was relieved when Shanks showed up and ended the war, not that he'd ever admit it aloud though.

Mihawk carried the unconscious girl carelessly over his shoulder to one of Shanks' doctors since they were alone and not likely to try and fight him.

"Heal this one if you have the room, she's an ally to the Whitebeard pirates." The golden-eyed raven informs as he essentially drops the girl, watching as the doctor catches her swiftly before she makes contact with the ground.

"Wha--? Is she even alive?"

"Of course. Why wouldn't she be?" He thought Shanks' crew all knew about him being an "adoptive father" not that he would proudly admit to such a thing, he took this brat in out of curiosity and nothing more as far as everybody else is concerned, perhaps this doctor is new.

"A little brutal, don't ya think, Hawk-eyes?" A certain male voices, earning himself a pointed look in return. Shanks. "Groundings usually do the trick for naughty children, ya know? Or taking her dagger away for a day, did you really need to butcher her like that~?"

Mihawk can already tell that the yonko is only kidding around, when is he not? But it still has the raven huffing subtly.

"Red-hair..."

"We'll take care of her, don't worry!" The doctor politely chimes before lifting the girl over his shoulder (in a much more graceful manner than how Mihawk was carrying her at least) and takes her to Red Force.

"What should we do with her once she has been treated?" Shanks questions somewhat playfully, drawing Mihawk's gaze back in. "She's a tough kid, she could be useful for my crew~!" He is only kidding though, Kyo is tough and headstrong, she must have known she would lose to her father but fought him alone anyway, it's ballsy but somebody like her isn't necessarily needed on his crew, Shanks has enough people like that.
What he's silently asking the raven is if he would want her to be taken in by Shanks'crew so that she would then have their protection but, Mihawk merely scoffs. Dismissing the idea completely.

"She wouldn't agree to such a thing, she's far too restless to join a crew." Mihawk isn't wrong there, she will happily ally herself with pirates she cares about enough to protect but, she likes to travel where ever she wants and she cannot do that if she's apart of a crew.
Not unless she was the captain anyway, which also doesn't appeal to her. So, yes, she likes to work alone.

"Ha, that sounds familiar, Hawk-eyes! You sure she isn't yours biologically~?"
