They're all about 7-8 here

Whizzer's feet displaced the wood chips on the ground as he kicked them. The swing swayed gently, a gentle breeze blowing through his hair as he started swaying faster and higher. A smile made its way across his face as he felt his hair blowing back in the wind as he swung high   enough to touch the sky. He reached one hand out toward the clouds, feeling the wind weaving around his fingertips. He let out a small laugh out of pure joy, the grin that had settled on his face previously now growing wider with every pump of his legs.

"Wait up you guys!" The loud shout cut through the sounds of birds chirping and leaves rustling with the wind.

Who dared interrupt his swinging? Whizzes stopped pumping his legs, waiting patiently for the swing to slow down.

"Then hurry up Mendel!" He heard a female voice shout back, giggles interrupting her speech.

Whizzes was annoyed and he hadn't even met them yet.

The swing had finally slowed down enough for him to get off. He hopped off, walking over to the obnoxious duo, realizing that there was a third person with them. The third person looked to be friends with the other two. Whizzer glanced towards his mom quickly to see what she was doing, only to find she was watching his cousin Kevin like a hawk. Kevin, although he was the same age as Whizzer,  liked to act like he was much older. He noticed this especially as Kevin was trying to woo a redheaded boy, who looked to be about a year older and blushing furiously. Whizzer just shrugged it off, not really caring about Kevin's romantic endevours, and continued his short walk towards the trio of friends.

Once he got closer to the quieter one, Whizzer noticed that he was talking hurriedly to a short, curly-haired boy and a long-haired girl, who was noticeably taller than the other two, around Whizzer's height. The tall girl and the curly-haired boy, who he assumed was Mendel, suddenly turned around, giving Whizzer a perfect view of the quiet boy's clearly panicked face.

"Hi my name's Trina!" She waved at him. "And this-" she gestured towards the boy on her left."-is Mendel"

She stepped aside, presumably to let the quieter boy introduce himself. He stared at Whizzer for a couple of seconds looking more and more panicked. At this point the boy was a blushing mess and Whizzer was just confused.

Whizzer broke the award silence that had settled between them "Uh... Hi, I'm Whizzer." He held his hand out for the boy to shake.

"Marvin." The shorter boy squeaked out, taking Whizzer' s hand and shaking it vigorously.

Whizzer offered Marvin a small smile, and Marvin quickly let go of his hand.

  "Sorry," Marvin muttered, blushing.

"What are you saying sorry for?"

Marvin shrugged, grinning sheepishly. He opened his mouth to apologise again, but decided against it.

"Race you to the swings!" Trina shouted at the three boys.

"Oh, you're on!" Mendel yelled back.

The two of them shot off towards the swings, Trina winning the small 'race' they had.

"Are you two going to join us?" Mendel called across the playground to them.

Marvin and Whizzer exchanges grins, and ran off to join the other two at the swing set.
