I really need to think of better name's for these oneshots.
Lunch time had finally come around and Marvin was done with the day already. He and Whizzer were definitely getting along better than some of the other pairs, but they weren't 'best friends', or whatever the school board wanted. He trudged towards Whizzer, relishing in his last couple moments of alone time, before heavily sitting down next to him.
"You're not going to eat lunch?" Whizzer asked Marvin as he sat down.
"I don't usually eat here," the shorter boy replied, shrugging.
"Where do you usually eat?" Whizzer seemed to be asking a lot of questions today, could this count as 'getting to know each other'? Probably not.
Marvin shrugged again, "The coffee shop you mentioned earlier."
"Oh, Gabriel's?" Whizzer didn't wait for an answer before standing abruptly, saying, "Well, let's go, then."
"Uh... What? Didn't the list tell us not to leave the building?"
Whizzer chose not to reply, as the answer to that is obvious, instead he leaned towards Marvin, whispering, "Follow my lead."
Marvin rushed to join the younger boy, confused and a little excited. Punks almost always broke the rules, but Marvin never did. Whizzer suddenly grabbed his hand as they approached the teachers lounge. Wait, what? The teachers lounge? What was Whizzer planning? Marvin might not usually break the rules, but he at least had half a mind to not go right to the teachers if he was planning on it.
"What are you doing?" Marvin hissed in Whizzer's ear, panicking a bit. Okay, maybe 'a bit' isn't the right way to phrase it, he was panicking a little more than that.
"Just calm down and follow my lead," Whizzer replied calmly "And don't ask questions or act weird about it."
What. Was. He. Planning. I could lie to you now and say that Marvin wasn't calmed (at least a little bit) by how calm Whizzer was, but I'm not going to do that. The calmness of Whizzer's voice aside, Marvin was still panicking. However, he tried to take a deep breath and made his grip on the other boy's hand a bit more natural looking, as opposed to his previous death grip. Whizzer opened the door to the lounge, Marvin suddenly confused on how they just let him, they didn't even look bothered, but he didn't let that question plague him for long.
"Can my boyfriend and I head to Gabriel's?" Whizzer asked Mr. Washington calmly, giving him a small smile. Marvin was caught off guard for a second before quickly returning his face to a more neutral expression, hoping the teacher didn't notice.
Mr. Washington narrowed his eyes slightly, not believing that the two boys were dating. Marvin panicked, because what else does he do now, and leaned up to give Whizzer a kiss on the cheek.
Mr. Washington clearly bought their little 'act' and nodded at the two boys to go before returning to his lunch.
They walked out of the building, ignoring all the looks from the other students, and didn't talk until after they had placed tgeut orders.
"Boyfriends?" Marvin asked, the word seeming a little foreign on his tongue, especially considering he was talking about himself and Whizzer.
"Oh, shut up! You were the one who kissed me!" Whizzer shot back, clearly flustered.
"You couldn't think of any other way to get us out of there? Besides, I could be just skipped lunch."
"Well-" Whizzer began, but quickly realized be had no real reason why he did that. It just seemed the most sensible idea at the time.
Marvin decided not to say anything else, instead looking down at the table until he and Whizzer's orders came out. The waitress handed their milkshakes to them setting the fries in between them. She didn't do anything much besides throwing them a wink. Marvin and Whizzer both blushed, realizing the waitress thought they were dating, however neither of them decided to say anything about it.
"Didn't we order two fries?" Marvin asked quietly.
"They must have combined them." Whizzer replied, equally quiet.
'It's a miracle.' Marvin thought to himself dryly, 'Whizzer actually managed to be quiet for once.'
"Whatever, let's just share them." Marvin said, suddenly caring less and less about who thought they were dating.
Whizzer nodded, not saying anything to protest. Besides, it's only fries. Not necessarily romantic. Just fries.
They finished their meal in silence, each throwing down a five because they were both too stubborn to let the other pay. Sure, they ended up paying twice as much as they needed to, but neither of them could find it in themselves to mind that much. It was the start of something new for both of them, and neither could've asked for a better one.
