Your pov.
I have earned enough to pay off the bills after six weeks of hard work. I called back to the number to check with them. "Hello?" The other line answered, its the same woman that called before. "Hi, I'm here to pay for my aunt's bills. One thousand dollars right?" I said. "How do I do the payment?"
"Er...sorry miss. We actually saw wrongly. It was not one thousand, it is ten thousand. We are so sorry for the mistake." She said. My heart dropped and my mind went blank. I wasn't sure if I heard correctly, hoping that I heard wrongly. What did she just say? Ten thousand?! "Miss?" Her voice called once more as I snap back.
"Ten..ten thousand?" I asked. I already know it is, I'm just stupidly hoping that it was all a nightmare.
"Yes miss, ten thousand. We didn't contact your aunt as you said, if you are unable to pay the full amount I can try to extend the time for you." She said, her voice was calm. At least shes nice.
"Thank you. I will try to pay it off as fast as possible." I said, gripping onto my phone tightly unknowingly.
"Its okay miss, I will contact you again about the dateline and the payment transaction details. Thank you for your cooperation."
"Thank you." I thanked her and hung up. I grip onto my hair and try to think hard. What the hell am I suppose to do?! From all the hours I've worked I earned about six hundred dollars while the other four hundred I manage to get it from my savings. I then look at the clock and realize that I'm almost late for work. Shit! I grabbed my stuffs and quickly rush out of my house.
Once I reached the cafe, I see Uncle K handling the cashier and the customers. I hurried into the cafe and put on my windbreaker. "I'm so sorry uncle K." I said while bowing to apologize.
"No no its okay, there wasn't many customers just now anyways. You okay tho? Why were you late, I would like an explanation though I'm not going to cut your pay." He said nicely while giving me a warm smile.
"I'll tell you later, let me help you." I said as I grab the dirty plates and utensils from his hands and puts it into the sink. Nat was doing the drinks and she glanced at me giving me a small smile. I gave her a smile back and got back to work.
When the last customers left the cafe, uncle K came up to me, passing me a cup of cold latte. "Thank you." I said as both of us sat down.
"So what happened?"
"Financial problems... I don't know... my aunt didn't tell me she owed the bank money, I found it out myself. And at first, I thought the amount was only a thousand but it was ten thousand. I don't know where I can find that amount of money.." I explained to him. He nods in understanding and puts his hand at his chin as he caress it.
"I can ask a friend of mine, he is actually looking for an assistant. And the job's starting pay is about a thousand per month? You should be able to pay off your bills by the end of the year."
"Really?!"
"Yes, I will help you look into it."
"Oh my god! Thank you so much uncle K! I don't know how else to thank you more... How can I repay you??"
"Its okay, just visit me once in awhile and I'll be glad. Don't forget about your studies and this cafe is open for you to come in anytime." He said and gave me a warm smile. I held his hand bowed to him many times. I seriously don't know what more words to say or thank him with. He is one of the nicest people I've met in my entire life. "Alright, I'll be going now then, remember to lock the cafe after you're done cleaning (y/n)." He said and waved goodbye at me. I took the broom and started dancing and sweeping happily.
