Chapter Eight:
Looking at my reflection In the mirror, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The woman staring back at me, wasn't me. Her fiery red hair was curled to perfection and lightly pinned behind her ears. A light touch of mascara donned her eye lashes making her green eyes pop and blood red lipstick made her lips look full and inviting. She wore a violet silk dress that touched the bottom of the floor and showed off every single one of her curves, including her breasts. The dress dipped just low enough that you could see her birth mark, but not giving to much away.
I looked away from the stranger in the mirror and tried to focus on other things but I couldn't help but miss home, I longed for a pair of jeans and a baggy t shirt, or better yet a cuddle from my mum and her telling me everything was going to be okay. Fresh tears threatened to spill but I held them back, the time for crying was later, for now I needed to be strong. A pinch to my arm brought me out of my head. The old bat looked at me, her brows creased " Are you listening to me child?" he shrill voice radiated throughout the room. " No I wasn't" her face went red but she manged to calm her self down enough to talk to me " Now that you are properly presentable it is time" She gestured towards the door across the room next to the four poster bed.
Confused I looked towards Carlisle who had said nothing since I re-appeared from the shower. He just stood at the back of the room with his arms folded across his chest staring at me. He said or did nothing so I glanced back towards the old woman " Time for what?" I wasnt sure I wanted to hear her answer but when a smile appeared on her face I knew it wasn't going to be good. " Its time for you to meet the king! He's been waiting for you for a very long time. " Before I could say anything more she grabbed my wrists that were still red raw from the cuffs and started to drag me towards the door.
I winced a little as her sharp claws cut into my skin, but she didn't loosen her grip, instead she continued to drag me towards the door. Alarm bells rang in my head so my flight or fight instincts kicked in and I tried to pull free but the old woman was strong, her grip tightened even more and her nails cutting into my skin, blood dripped down my hand and onto the cream carpeted floor. The old woman pulled me close to her " If you don't behave then I will have you restrained and brought to the King anyway, so you might as well do it of your own free will " she raised her eyebrows waiting for me to make my decision and in the end I gave up, I nodded my head and she released my arm. Alice was by my side in seconds bandaging my bloody arm, her hands were cold but her touch was light and gentle, she didn't want to hurt me and for that I trusted her.
Once my arm was bandaged the incredibly mean old lady walked over towards the door, knocked twice and then opened it. I stood there for a few seconds dazed, all I could think was, what is on the other side of that door and what will happen once I step into the room? " Well, what are you waiting for? Go in!" Her shrill voice broke through my thoughts. I looked past her and into the dark room, whatever or whoever was waiting for me in there I would face with confidence and strength, so I took a deep breath squared my shoulders and walked into the room with my head held high.
Once I was past the threshold the door slammed shut behind me, trapping me. The room was dimly lit but I could make out some of its features, the walls were painted a royal blue colour, and several artistic paintings hung on them making the room feel small. I spun around taking the room in when I noticed a medium sized brown mahogany desk against one wall that was scattered with all sorts of papers. Curiosity spiked, I walked over towards them, gentle moving them around with my hand. But before I could even get a good look a deep masculine voice spoke from the shadows, startling me." Didn't anyone ever tell you that curiosity killed the cat?"
My heart was pounding inside my chest as I looked around the room, and as I squinted into the darkest corner a shadow started to immerge causing me to take step back. Stood a few feet away from me was the king. He was dressed in a black tailored suit that hugged his body, the top two buttons of his dress shirt were undone giving you a slight view of his hairy chest and his biceps bulged out of his jacket. He stood there with his hands in his trouser pockets, staring at me, like I was his prey.
I wanted to run, to hide but that's what he wanted, he enjoyed the chase, he craved it and I wasn't going to give him that. So instead I stood my ground and refused to let him scare me. " What do you want?" my voice echoed around the room, sounding stronger that I felt. For a moment he said nothing, he just stared at me, his eyes boring into mine. I wanted to look away, but It felt like I was under his spell. His eyes were like black holes, empty and deep but filled with so much power. " You" His deep voice brought me out of my trance. Shaking my head to clear the fog that clouded my mind , I registered what he had just said. " Excuse me?" a small smile played on his lips as he took a step closer to me. " You asked me what I wanted. You are what I want Samantha. "
