Chapter 12
I stared at the seer unsure on how to respond to her words. She stared back, her face expressionless, her violet eyes boring into mine. My first instinct was to laugh, because what she just told me couldn't possibly be real but then everything that has happened to me in the last few days couldn't be real and yet here I am trapped in a freaking castle in a magical land filled with monsters you only read about in story books talking to a witch.
" Are you okay dear, you've gone very pale" The soft voice of Agatha filled the room bringing my attention back to her. I nodded " I'm fine, just trying to process everything. " My head was starting to feel fuzzy with all that has happened to me. " Here, drink this it will help" my eyebrows scrunched together in confusion as I looked around and saw nothing but then I felt something warm between my hands. Looking down I saw a steaming cup of tea. I looked back at Agatha in wonder. She really was a witch. I brought the cup to my lips and took a sip, a fruity taste exploded in my mouth and warmed my belly making me feel a little better. I drank some more enjoying the taste and the way it made me feel.
" Thank you" I said. Agatha gave me a smile in return. " How did you know my name ?" I finally asked, Agatha's eyes crinkled just a little more as she looked at me " Ive known about your for a very long time. You are the one who will save us all " I choked on my tea and ended up coughing. " Im sorry, what do you mean im the one who will save you all?" Agatha looked away from me and stared into the blaze of the fire. " As you've already witnessed the king is an awful, violent, cruel man. he cares for nothing and no one. The only thing he is interested in is producing an heir. You were destined to produce that heir. But your also destined for something else, something much greater." " You will save your people Samantha, you will bring them out of slavery and servitude, you will rule!"
I shook my head, " No! nope, not happening" I set the tea down and stood up not wanting to hear any more but Agatha continued " It is you destiny" I spun around facing her, anger rising in the pit of my stomach " Screw destiny" I screamed. " All I want to do is go home, I want to forget that this ever happened and carry on with my normal life, go to parties, hang out with my friends, get a boyfriend! Im not destined to produce an heir and I am definitely not meant to rule my people!"
I headed towards the door when her next few words stopped me " This is your home Samantha" I turned back around to face Agatha who was now standing, the chairs were gone and in their pace a table with a glass ball sat on top. Wiping away a few angry tears I replied " This is not my home. " Agatha gave me a sad smile, " Oh but it is, I even met your parents. Your real parents. " I just stared at her, this couldn't be true, what she was telling me wasn't real? Was it? She continued. " your mother and father both came to see me after you were born, they had herd about the prophecy and knew you were the one destined for the king. They didn't want that life for you, they wanted you to be happy, to live and to love. So I gave them a map that would take them to a portal to the human realm, both of your parents sacrificed themselves to keep you safe."
" If you don't believe me, watch." Agatha pointed to the crystal ball on the table, at first I saw nothing but then white mist started to swirl around, I walked closer trying to get a better look. The mist kept swirling and swirling until a blurry picture started to form, for a second I couldn't make it out but then the picture started to get clearer and soon i saw a baby with green eyes and red hair smiling at a woman who had also had green eyes but she had dark brown hair, she was looking at the child with tears in her eyes. " Don't worry little one, your safe now, your father and I made sure of it. We love you more than anything and always will. " the woman then pulled out a locket from her cloak she was wearing and placed it around the baby. A shocked gasp escaped my throat as I fingered the locket around my neck, they looked exactly the same.
My eyes stayed glued to the ball as the woman proceeded to lift the baby into the air and I watched in awe as the baby floated for a few seconds and then disappeared. The woman sobbed as she watched her baby go " Goodbye Samantha " she whispered, then the crystal ball went back to being clear and I stood there with tears running down my face.
