Chapter Three

A cold breeze whipped around me, awakening my body, my sense coming to life. My fingers felt numb from the cold and my head felt like it had been smashed against a wall. The canopy of trees greeted me as I slowly opened my eyes, confusion washed over me then panic set in, where was I? I wasn't in my warm, comfy bed at home but was on a cold damp leaf covered floor in the middle of a forest. So many questions ran through my head yet I had no answers, How did I get here?, what happened after the party? I remember leaving the party, I remember walking home and I remember taking a short cut but what happened after that? And then just like a flood gate opening I remembered everything. The magical walls that kept appearing and the mysterious glowing green light that sucked me through a brick wall.

I sat there in shock not sure if I was completely crazy or if I was dreaming, it certainly felt real. I pinched my arm and pain radiated from the spot, that definitely felt real. I looked around trying to figure out what the hell I was going to do when an idea popped into my head, I needed to get my butt off this floor and find civilisation so I could go home and forget this ever happened.

Pushing my self of the ground seemed to be abit of a struggle because my legs felt like jelly so I leaned on a near by tree for support and glanced down only to realise I was still wearing the skimpy Halloween outfit. I let out a sigh of annoyance. Just great. When I get home I was going to remind Becky that dressing slutty for Halloween wasn't practical. I gave my legs a little shake, gave myself a little pep talk and began walking, I had no idea which way was the right way but I assumed that eventually I would run into someone.

Looking up I saw that the leaves on the tree's were a lovely orange colour that glistened in the morning light and for a moment I forgot about the weird and unexplainable events that had happened. I love this time of year, the cold nights and frosty mornings, hot chocolate and marshmallows even all the rain, it gave me an excuse to stay in side and read. The air even smelt better. I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes for a second, I oddly felt at peace. But that only lasted for a second. Shouting echoed around me followed by a loud bang that caused the birds in their nests to flee. I span around looking for whoever was making all this noise but couldn't see anyone. The shouting got closer and the bangs became more frequent, and that's when I saw it or should I say her.

A girl was running towards me, her clothes were rags, her hair was dishevelled and she looked scared. She was looking behind her but when her eyes came into contact with mine she stopped dead in her tracks and dropped to her knees " Forgive me, I will take any punishment you decide but please, please don't send me to the catacombs!!. " Her eyes were closed and her hands were clasped together in a begging way. I looked at her confused, did I walk onto a film set? Did she think I was one of the actors? " I'm sorry but im not part of this film, I wondered onto the set by accident!" I let out a nervous laugh. The girl lifted her head her blue eyes boring into mine and this time it was her who looked confused. She was about to speak when the shouting behind her became more clear " She went this way!" The girl scurried from the ground and ran behind me expecting me to protect her from whoever was coming, but I couldn't even protect my self let alone her so I turned around to tell her but the look in her eyes almost broke me, who was this girl? What had happened to her?

A few seconds later a group of men dressed in black skin tight suits sporting French hats came to a sudden stop in front of us " There she is-Oh My lady I didn't realise you were out looking for the runaway too?" They all bowed to me, what is going on!! I looked behind once more at the girl and she mouthed the words please, I nodded at her and turned back around to face the group of men " Err, yes I was and now ive caught her so you all are free to go " I waved my hand at them signalling for them to leave but they all stood there looking at one another then back at me " But My Lady, we were ordered by her master to bring her back and make an example of her " I narrowed my eyes at them and squared my shoulders trying to look as menacing as possible " Are you defying me? " The one at the front looked nervous " No, no ofcourse not its just-" " Just nothing! I have caught her and I will return her. If her master wishes she be made an example of then I shall be the one to do it and ill make sure she wont even think of running again!".

My voice boomed throughout the forest as I took on this new role, only if Becky saw me now! The only thing I thought was were was all the cameras? Where was the director? " Yes my lady! Of course, we will head back and inform Alec that she has been found " I nodded at them and watched them leave. Once they were out of view I let out a breath that I had been holding in. " who are you? " a voice spoke up behind me reminding me that there was a girl there. I looked at her full of questions, "I'm Sam, who are you?" " Elisia " she responded curtly " What house are you from?" " Im sorry what?" " Are you witch? Vampire? Or Demon?" I stared at her blankly and when I didn't respond she let a little huff " Is your master, Alec? Olga? Or Arden? Or are you part of the kings slaves?"

She stared at me with serious eyes waiting for an answer but all I could do was laugh, I laughed so hard my side hurts but when I looked at her again her face was full of anger " Why are you insulting me? " " im sorry I thought you were joking" " Why would I joke about something like that?" her face looked so serious I almost wanted to laugh again. Almost. " I don't have a master? Im not a slave? No one has owned slaves for over hundred years now " she backed away from me " that's not possible" " Where am I?" I finally asked. " Your in Lairia, the city of immortals " What?! "What land are you from? " " Clearly somewhere far, far away from here. Where I come from girls don't get chased by strange men dressed in black and there is no such thing as slaves " The girl stared at me for a long time until something must of registered in her brain and he eyes widened " Your from the Human realm!!"

I looked at her like she had grown two heads, this girl had obviously broken out of mental institute and I had helped her escape, maybe now was the time I left her and tried to find my way home. " Okay well I need to get going, your welcome by the way for me helping you escape from the men in black " I started to back away when she reached out and grabbed my hand " You cant leave, if the King ever found out that your from the human realm you will never see the light of day again" I was about to protest when she mentioned the one word ive been longing for since I woke up in this god awful place " Just trust me, ill bring you to the camp and the elders will help you get home" that one word was all it took for me to agree, so I followed a complete stranger through the woods in a different realm, dressed a slutty witch. What could go wrong?
