When Will and I got home we found our dad waiting for us at the front door.

"I got the call. My kids saved the citizens as freshman. Unbelievable" he said walking us into the house.

"Yeah cool" I said unenthusiastic while trying to head to my room. My dad was too into this whole superhero high school thing. My mom was a lot more understanding and calmer to talk to.

"It's never been done before. And Will topped Mom's score on the pinball machine. Get out of here" my dad said. I walked into the kitchen to find prim and proper Gwen helping my mom cook dinner.

"Ah there they are" my mom said

"Hi Gwen. Bye Gwen" I hissed as I grabbed a water from the fridge and headed upstairs. Gwen made me want to throw up so the less time spent around her the better.

"You're not joining us for dinner Madeline?" My mom asked as I started to climb the stairs. I stopped on the fourth step and turned towards her.

"No I have plans tonight" I said before continuing to walk to my room. A few minutes later I heard Will and Gwen head into his bedroom. As I was picking out an outfit from my closet I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in" I said. My mom walked in slowly closing the door behind her. "So who's the date with?" She asked trying to be cool about it.

"Uhh don't tell dad but that senior I was telling you about" I said

"Well the skirt and the top is cute" my mom pointed to as she walked out. I glanced at the outfit in my hand and agreed with her. I discarded my clothes from school in my hamper and put on the skirt and top. I slowly climbed down the stairs and slipped out the front door, making my way to Paper Lantern. I arrived a few minutes early and decided to sit down. The door opens and I look up expecting to see Lash but instead I see Layla.

"Hey Maddie" Layla said

"Oh ah hey Layla"

"Are your expecting someone?" She asked

"Ummmmm-I'm going on a date with Lash tonight. He should be here in a few minutes" I whispered not sure how she would react. Her mouth was slightly open and her face was frozen in place.

"Are you meeting someone here?" I asked trying to divert the attention back to her.

"Will. He's suppose to be here soon too" she said.

"Will agreed to Chinese?"

"Yeah I know I was surprised too" Layla said before excusing herself and grabbing a booth for them. I felt bad and probably should have told her Will wasn't coming but it wasn't my place.

Five minutes later and Lash walked in. He was dressed up from his normal attire. I smiled and waved.

"Hey" I said

"Hey baby" he seductively said with a wink

"Lash look you can't keep calling me baby. We aren't even dating" I said

"Well what's this tonight then?" He asked. I laughed. Warren walked up with a pitcher of water.

"Hey are you ready to order?" He said before looking up and realizing who we were.

"Ahhh if it isn't Stronghold with the bad boy. Wonder what your brother or better yet your dad would say if he heard about this" Warren said

"Look buddy back off" Lash said coming to my defense. I was shocked at how protective he got. It was different and I liked it.

"Calm down I'm not going to tell her brother or her dad. Plus it looks like your brother is gonna be in some heated water with her anyways" Warren said pointing to Layla.

"I feel bad. Gwen is at our house right now eating dinner. He must of forgotten" I said to Lash who had a weird look on his face.

"I'll take sesame chicken" I said

"I'll have fried rice" Lash said. Warren walked away from our booth.

"Look Maddie. I like you a lot. Just remember that, my feelings are and will always be sincere" Lash said while holding my hands.

"What's going on Lash?" I asked.

"I can't tell you. It will just do more harm" Lash said. as Warren brought out of our food. We ate and talked. Every so often I would look over my shoulder to see if Layla was still here. After a half hour or so of waiting she finally decided to order a meal by herself. I turned back around to face Lash.

"Hey, I just want to let you know I'm enjoying myself tonight" I said to Lash making him look up.

"You're truly not like the rest. You may act like an idiot and all in school with your friend Speed but you're different. I like that" I said

"Tomorrow after school. I'm going to tell you a secret. You deserve to know" Lash said. I shook my head okay.

"So does this mean I'm getting another date or better yet you'll be my girlfriend?" Lash asked in a playful tone.

"I don't know.... I'm kidding. I'd love to go on another date as your girlfriend" I said. "You know my last date was with Zack over the summer. This was 100 times better"

"That glow stick. I'd hope our date would be better than your date with him" I laughed.

"It looks like Layla and Warren are getting cozy with each other over there" Lash said pointing towards their booth. I turned around to see Layla and Warren sitting together in the booth talking.

"Hey can I ask you a question?" Lash said as he handed me a fortune cookie.

"Yeah what is it?" I asked

"Will you go to homecoming with me?" Lash asked nervously

"I'd love to" I said. We both read our fortunes to each other out loud.

"You will be destined for greatness" I said rolling my eyes. "Great just another reminder of who I am and who I'm suppose to be after school. What's yours say?"

"Truth is the most important part of a relationship" Lash said gulping after his statement.

"I better be heading home" I said looking at the time on the wall.

"Here let me walk you home" Lash said as he got up out of the booth and opened the door for me. We walked towards my house and just as we were about to reach my house I stopped him.

"I don't know if it's a good idea yet to walk me to the door" I said nervous on how my dad and Will would react.

"It's cool maybe next time" he said before kissing me on the lips. I pulled away for a second only to go dive back into it wanting more.

"I'll see you tomorrow" I said as I pulled my lips from his.

"Goodnight Maddie" Lash said

"Goodnight Lash"

I walked into the house to see my mom anxiously waiting for me at the island in the kitchen.

"So how did it go?" She asked

"Good. He asked me to homecoming and to be his girlfriend" I said making my mom squeal.

"I'll start talking to your father for you" she said before turning the lights off and heading upstairs to bed.
