"Just... try to be a little bit more open. I know you're shy but you need to find some friends." Kaycee's mom looked at her, the girl rolled her eyes.
"I'll try," she said, the same she said a few days ago. Her mother gave her a look, she definitely didn't believe her. Oh well.
Kaycee closed the front door behind her and walked to the dance studio. It wasn't far away, 15 minutes, and because the weather was nice she decided to walk.
Jojo Gomez had class today again and Kaycee was excited. She loved her choreographies, knowing them from YouTube, and couldn't wait what they would do today.
About 20 people were already there when Kaycee arrived. They were screaming and laughing, stretching and dancing a bit. It was fun - if you had friends. She would stand alone in the corner, again. She couldn't complain though because she was the one that didn't make an attempt to at least get to know someone.
She put her stuff in one corner - she already changed into her dance clothes at home -, and started stretching on her own. She ignored the people around her - not a good idea how it seemed.
Suddenly someone bumped into her and Kaycee tumbled. Before she could progress that she was about to fall, another someone grabbed her hips, steading her on her feet again.
"God damn it Gabe," the voice behind her said, "can't you pay a little bit attention at the people around you?"
"Sorry, I wasn't looking." The guy - Gabe - that just bumped into her said and looked at her apologizing. "Are you okay?"
Kaycee blinked. She was kind of overwhelmed with everything and the fact that the mysterious guy still had his hands on her hips didn't make it better.
"Yeah... yeah, I'm good, don't worry." She shook her head a bit to come back to reality. "I wasn't looking either"
"That was definitely not your fault," the voice behind her said and the grip on her hips loosend slowly, "You sure you okay?"
Kaycee turned around, seeing nobody else but Sean standing right behind her. "Yeah, nothing happened. Thank you for catching me"
A smirk appeared on Sean's face. "Anytime"

"Alright guys, let's get this started!" Jojo clapped her hands and looked around. The dancers gathered together, they were excited what was about to come. "Today we are dancing to 'Trust My Lonely'. If you don't mind-" She hushed the people away to show the choreo.
It was fun. Kaycee hadn't many problems with reminding the choreo so she helped two girls that definitely had. They laughed a lot together even though she didn't even know their names. It was to late to ask anyway.
They trained and trained and trained. First on their own, then with a partner - Kaycee danced with one of the girls because there weren't enough guys left -, then again on her own. It took some time until Jojo decided that it was time for filming.
"Everyone ready?" Jojo asked some time later, the students gathered around her again, leaving some space in the middle for the dancers. "I'd like to try something new today. Alright, let me think." She looked through the people, stopping at Sean who stood on the other side of the room. "Sean, c'mon up here."
Sean did as he was told, walking into the middle of the room slowly.
"And as a partner I was thinking about... our new girl, Kaycee, c'mon!"
Kaycee did what she was told, came up forward slowly. Sean already sat on the ground, waiting for her to take her position. She sat down in front of him.
"Alright, I want you to be cool. Expecially you Kaycee, you decide that you are better on your own, okay?"
Kaycee nodded.
"Good. Then let's get this started in..."
Kaycee didn't listen anymore. She just lied down in the exact same moment Sean did and waited for the music to start.
Synchronously they both sat up again, starting the choreo as the first beats echoed through the room. It was a bit uncomfortable in the beginning. They had to look at each other and even though Kaycee usually hadn't a problem with it, it was quite different with Sean. They didn't really talk to each other before, something her heart for some reason wanted to change.
As soon as they got up from the ground, the whole room stopped breathing. Kaycee seemed to be the only one that felt that uncomfortable communication silence between the two of them, the rest was just swept off their feet.
Kaycee decided to just ignore that feeling in her stomach and roll with the music. To just keep her attitude. And it worked.
Until that second were Sean touched her shoulders and their improv began. Out of nowhere she turned around to him, smiling, only to see his face changing into a smile too.
Then something happened that she never experienced before. It wasn't the first time she danced with a partner but this was different. She suddenly knew where to put her feet during the improv, she knew what move he was about to do next without looking at him. That uncomfortable feeling vanished and she just rolled with it, jammed with a guy she never talked with before over the dance floor. Jojo might have said that they were supposed to be colder but both couldn't wash that grin from their faces. Back into position, keeping in the choreo, but the whole atmosphere on the floor changed and everyone in that whole room felt it.
The music stopped and they fell down on the ground again.
"I think we found someone a dance partner, am I right?" Jojo said, the whole room screaming and applauding. Kaycee sat up, Sean already on his feet, offering her a hand to help her. She took it, smiling shyly as a thank you.
"That was unbelievable, really. Amazing," Jojo said to the two that still stood next to each other.
"Thank you," Sean said, then looking at Kaycee. "You were amazing"
"Weren't so bad yourself," she responded grinning.
"Anyone else? Do we have volunteers?" Jojo asked and looked around. Sean went back to his friends, Kaycee walked back to the place she had before.
There weren't any volunteers, they probably didn't want to be compared to the two before. Jojo just chose a couple, they weren't so bad as they believed, and Kaycee spend the rest of the class with watching.
After class she packed her things, saying good bye to the two girls she trained with before and searched her way through the people who where talking more then the last times she was here. What was wrong today?
She didn't realize that her dance with Sean was the main topic of every conversation in that whole room.
