Harry
"Are you ready?" I ask and Gemma nods with tears in her eyes.
"Hey, come here," I say as she weakly walks towards me.
"This is a happy day, all right?" I say and she nods lightly.
"Harry, it hurts so much," she says breaking into soft sobs.
"Where?" I ask as she shakes her head.
"The mental pain, Harry, the mental pain." She cries more and my eyes water.
"Listen to me. You're going to get through this okay? We're going to get through this, together," I say. She nods and pulls on her jacket.
"Okay," she shutters out as we walk down the path to the car. She sits in the passenger seat as I start up the car and turn on the heat. Gem shivers as she hugs her jacket closet to her.
"You doing all right?"
"Yeah, just cold." I nod as she rests back into her seat after turning on the heat. We drive downtown to the old adoption center that is surprisingly still running. As I park the car, Gem smiles.
"Ready?" I ask and she's already nodding.
I smile and open my door, jogging to her side and opening hers. She grabs my hand and we rush up to the door. She opens it and a million different smells hit my nose. Cookies, clean laundry, dirty laundry, glue and multiple different things.
"Hello," greets a blonde coming up to me shaking my hand, then Gems.
"Hi, I'm Harry, and this is my sister Gemma."
"Hi, nice to meet you both. I'm Mrs. Lucy, and I think you had called a few times? Would you like to go over things in my office?" she proposes and we nod following her down a hall into an office.
"So, after going through everything, you've decided?" she asks and Gemma and I nod.
"Violet May Green, Seventeen years old... let's see... ah here we are. Here is another background file, medications, everything needed. I'll need you to sign here, here, and all of these marked spots. I will also need to see license, and someone was sent out for a homecheck, yes?"
"Yes, Ms. O'Connor," Gemma replies and she nods.
"Mhh, Ms. O'Connor. Not my favorite, but she gets the job done." She nods as I start filling out the papers. Gemma hands her our licenses and in half an hour we're out the door on our way up the stairs to Violet's room.
"Violet," Mrs. Lucy calls out knocking on the door.
"Coming!" muffles from the room. Soon, I hear a child crying and I frown.
"Everything okay?" I ask and she nods.
"Yes, there's a young girl here, treats her as her own," she says and a frown forms upon her lips.
"Rough times. Never left each others side," I nod sadly and Gemma grabs my hand as the door opens.
"Hi," says a girl with bright yet fading purple hair.
"Hi, Violet," Gemma says and she smiles.
"Hi, Harry, Gemma," she greets and taps the little girl on the shoulder.
"Hi," says the shy blonde with stunning bright blue eyes.
"Hi, how old are you sweets?" I say bending down and sitting in front of her. She quickly grabs Violet's leg and hides away into her knees.
