"Clary, you ready to go yet?" Jace calls through my bedroom door. I open it and he's shocked. I'm wearing my outfit and heels from Izzy, my whips from Mom and Dad, my necklace from Alec and my ring from him. I have my hair in a curly ponytail.
"Never been more ready. Where are the others?" I ask, closing the door behind me.
"Waiting for us in the lobby. I was nominated to see what was taking you so long," he says, laughing. I laugh as well.
"Sorry about that. It took me a while to just do my hair," I tell him. He smiles and kisses me.
"Let's go," he says, taking my hand and leading me to where the others are waiting.
"You guys are so cute," Izzy says, smiling as we wave to mom and dad before heading out to take care of the ravenor demon that has been terrorizing half of the city.
"You have the sensor, right Jace?" Alec asks. Jace nods and takes it out of his pocket. Sensors track demon activity and allow us to find them before they cause any more destruction to New York.
"Looks like it's in Clary and Jocelyn's old apartment. That usually only means one thing and it's that there's somebody there. I hope it's not Jocelyn, Valentine or Sebastian because that would break her even more," Jace says the last part to himself. I roll my eyes and start running toward my mom and I's apartment with the others right behind me.
"Clary, wait up!" Alec yells. We get to our place and it's destroyed. I go into my room, grab my duffel bag from under my bed and pack what little I left behind. I zip it up as somebody comes into my room. I turn around and kick them, not noticing that it was my brother.
"Ow. Jesus Clary. You kick hard," he says. I groan.
"Sorry Alec, I thought you were someone who wanted to harm me. I have a lot of enemies still out there," I say, helping him up. That night I walk out of the institute, as mom and Izzy are making dinner, and walk to the cemetery that holds the entrance to the Silent City. I walk down the stairs and go straight to where the memorials are. I run my hand over the memorial that says, Jocelyn Fairchild.
"I miss you, mom. I'm part of a good family now though. I have a brother, a sister, two parents and a fiance who couldn't be sweeter," I say.
"Clary?" A familiar voice says from behind me. I turn around and smile at the two people standing there.
"Uncle James! Uncle Will!" I say, rushing over and hugging my uncles. Their names are James Carstairs and Will Herondale. They hug me back then try to let go but I cling to Uncle Will. He lifts me up and carries me out of the Silent City. We get back to the institute and mom is shocked to see Uncle Will carrying me with Uncle James right behind him.
"Where was she?" Mom asks, calling dad who comes rushing into the room and takes me from him.
"The Silent City. She was talking to her mom's memorial when we found her," James says. I wiggle out of dad's arms and head for the training room to practice with my whips because I have a feeling I'll need the practice in the next few days. My necklace keeps glowing red whenever I go out. I'll go run errands or go personal shopping and it glows red. The last time it was because a vampire was sneaking up on me and the time before that it was because one of Uncle Luke's wolves was trying to attack me. I finish with my whip then start working with my seraph blades. Alec and dad follow me to the training room and are surprised at how fast I am. They grab a seraph blade each and join me on the floor of the training room. They attack and I defend myself, very nearly giving them a cut or two on their arms because they're both wearing tank tops instead of long sleeves like they usually wear when we go out on a mission."Clary, slow down! You're going to burn yourself out!" Dad says, worried by how fast and hard I'm fighting. I just keep going as fiercely as I was going before. Just then mom walks in.
"Clary, come get ready. There's somebody in the sanctuary who wants to see you," she says to me. I run to my room, shower and dress in black pants, a black top with cut outs, and black high heeled boots. I wrap my whip around my wrist, put my curly red hair in a ponytail, put on a little makeup and join my guest in the sanctuary. I smile when I see my cousin, Rafael, who's a vampire.
"Rafael, what a surprise. What are you doing here?" I ask, concerned.
"Camille wants to speak to you but she doesn't want to come here," he tells me.
"Well shit. I know exactly what she wants to talk to me about although how she knows this shit I'll never know," I say. He looks confused.
"What the hell are you talking about?" He asks. I sigh.
"Lately I've had downworlders and demons alike trying to attack me. Two weeks ago it was a vampire that wanted me as a snack, last week it was uncle Luke's third-in-command and today it was a fucking ravenor demon," I growl.
"That is scary that she knows this shit because I know you haven't told her because if you'd told her then I would have known before now," he says.
"Anyway, I have to go. Can I tell Camille that you'll be by soon?" He asks, hugging me.
"Yeah, tell her I'll be by this weekend and to let her coven know so they don't attack me," I say, hugging him back then walking out of the sanctuary and back into the institute where Izzy's cooking lunch and the others are talking in the dining room. I walk into the dining room and sit down at my usual place next to Alec and Jace. I rest my head on my hand and stare at the fridge, trying to figure out what I'm going to tell Camille this weekend.
"You ok baby sis?" Alec whispers in my ear. I'm younger than both him and Izzy so consequently I'm the baby sister.
"I'm fine Alec. I do need to talk to you after lunch though. You mind going for a walk?" I whisper back.
"Of course not. Is this something that you don't want the others to know?" He asks, concerned.
"I'd rather them not know right now but they'll need to know eventually if we're going to figure out and take down whoever's trying to kill me," I whisper to him.
"But of course," he says. We eat lunch and dad tells mom about how fast and deadly I was during training. She looks at me surprised. We finish and Alec and I clean up because the others have stuff they need to do. Once we're finished I peek into dad's office and tell him that Alec and I are going for a walk. He nods.
"Do you have your weapons on you?" He asks, looking at us.
"Yeah, I've got my seraph blade and whip on me and Alec's got his bow and arrow," I say.
"Ok, just be safe," dad says.
"Always dad," I say, taking my brother's hand and walking out of the institute.
"Follow me, I know a good place where we can talk without being attacked," I say, leading him to the Silent City and down to the memorials section. We sit down and I look around before turning to him.
"What's going on Clary?" He asks, concerned.
"I'm being hunted. Two weeks ago I had to take out a vampire as I was walking back from the art store because he decided I'd be a good mid-day snack, last week I had to send uncle Luke's third-in-command back to uncle Luke limping and today that Ravenor demon was searching mom and I's apartment for me. I have a sneaking suspicion who is doing this and if I'm right then he isn't dead and wants to take me out before he kills himself," I say. Alec is shocked.
"You think Valentine's doing this?" He asks. I nod.
"Who else would want me dead? He killed my mom and my older brother so it's only natural that he would want me dead too. The only problem is he thinks that I'm playing hard to get and actually want to see him whereas I'm intentionally being hard to get because I don't want to see him and I'd rather see him dead," I explain to him. He frowns, wraps his arms around me and presses a kiss to my forehead. We sit there and talk, leaning against each other, until it gets dark. Dad sends uncle James to find us when we aren't back by dinner. Uncle James finds us in the same spot where he found me a couple of days before which is mom's memorial.
