* A few days later, Brian didn't leave Roger and slept by his side the whole time *

Roger POV

When I woke up, my whole body hurt. I vaguely recalled eating ice cream and going for a drive in my beautiful car, but I had no memory of how I had ended up in this hospital. Then I felt something moving and I looked down. Brian was asleep, his head on the bed, looking like he had cried. He looked peaceful and content, as if he was dreaming of badgers. I carefully slipped my hand our of his and ran my fingers trough his perfect curls. How come he was still here? According to the clock above the door it was three am, which explained why he had fallen asleep. I tried to get up, but my body seemed to be working against me. Grunting of pain I let myself fall back into my pillow, but while doing that I woke up Brian. I quickly pulled back my hand from his hair and acted like I just woke up. He held my gaze, and I once again got a chance to remind myself of how amazing his hazel eyes looked. The moment was almost perfect. Almost, because he was only being friendly. I had after all been pretty close to death, and he was my best friend. Nothing weird going on here, just two best friends being happy to see eachother. Right?
Brian got up from the floor, which had probably been quite uncomfortable. He took the chair and sat down on the place he had been sleeping. He was obviously relieved, I could tell, but something was off. He wasn't his badgery self, and now that I thought of it, he hadn't been for a few weeks. He also hadn't gotten me some chicken, which was kind of disappointing. I really like chicken.

'Are you alright mate? You look like you carry the weight of the entire world on your shoulders.'
'You just had a car accident and you are asking me if I'm alright? Rog, you truly are acting silly, like the nurse had told us you would.'

He grinned like crazy and hugged me, crashing the few bones left in my body that hadn't been bruised or broken. It didn't hurt though, for the wounds had healed quite fast, but it was actually very adorable to see him this exited.

'Ouch!'
'Right, you are still injured. I'll restrain myself then. I'm just glad you're still alive, Rog, they didn't know if you would make it.'
'Just kidding, Bri. Well, you know me right? I wouldn't leave without saying goodbye to you guys. And my car. And Freddies cats. He has quite a lot, doesn't he? Sometimes I think he only has them because they are the only pets that come as close to being a diva like him. Wait a minute, don't you have like five badgers for pets? And two hedgehogs? And an entire closet filled with clogs? No, I think I dreamed that last bit about the clogs, nobody would be that crazy. I'm hungry. Can you fetch me some food? I am having some major chicken gravings! Yes, get me chicken! Gimme fried chicken!'

Brian chuckled and got up, hopefully to get me a bowl of chicken. I really like chicken. I also really like Brian. No, not like. Love, that's the word. I really love Brian. Especially if he got me chicken. I really like chicken. Did I mentioned that already?
With Brian gone, there wasn't much I could do besides laying in bed and staring at the wall in front of me. That smudge over there looked like a poodle. Brian was also a poodle. The very best poodle ever. And he was getting me chicken! I really like chicken.

Brian returned with a tray on which were two cups and a bowl. He placed the tray on the bed and handed me the bowl. It was filled with green and orange stuff. This isn't chicken.

'Briiii where's my chicken?'
'The nurse said you can't have chicken, so I got you some fruits and vegetables instead. Some broccoli, carrots, selery, an apple and grapes. They are very healthy and important, you need to get some strength before you're allowed to go home.'
'But I don't like vegetables. Do I have to eat them?'
'Yes, Rog, we went over this a few weeks ago. You need them because of the vitamins inside them.'
'And I thought you were the nice one. They told me you were kind to people and stuff. I don't think I am in love with you anymore. Not until you get me my chicken.'

Wait. Fuck. What? Did I just say I am in love with him? That wasn't supposed to happen. Not now, I could barely construct a normal sentence that doesn't have the word 'chicken' in it, let alone confess my love to Brian. This was going the wrong way, I don't have the energy to deal with an angry Brian. Well, that's what I thought. He wasn't angry at all, he just gasped and stared at me like he couldn't believe what I had just said. Then he forced himself to come to his senses and his confused look changed to a tender one.

'Do you mean that or is it the brain damage talking?'
'I- I do mean it, Bri. I love you. I have since '72, when we had that crazy college party at Daniel's. We were both drunk, and I kissed you; you didn't remember and I fell in love. I'm sorry, you probably think I'm a freak, I can get over you. Just forget what I said, please. I didn't mean for this to happen. I was going to ignore it until it went away, but it didn't, and look where it got me. I'm sorry Bri...'

He just smiled and grabbed my hand. He squeezed it and moved closer to me, until our faces were only a few inches away from eachother.

'I love you too Roger, you don't need to feel sorry about anything. I'm so glad you told me. I will never leave you again.'

He pressed his lips on mine, the moment I had hoped would happen for so long was finally here. Brian kissed me with a passion nobody had ever kissed me with, it was like it was meant to be. I ran my hand trough his hair like I had done while he slept, though that moment seemed to be so long ago. We untangled and Brian stroke my hair out of my face. He kissed me again, but he pulled away shortly after, smiling.

'I love you so much Roger.'
'I love you too poodle man, we literally just said that a few minutes ago. Can you get me chicken now?'

He smirked and kissed me.

'No can't do, but I can get you out of here. The nurse said you healed sooner than expected, and you can leave. Let's go home.'
