Its been 4 days and Laura hasn't got in touch with Jake. Hasn't replied to his texts or return his calls.
She's put a lock on the front door to make it look like there's no one at home.
She was still terrified and wanted to be alone.
She decided to go to the hospital for a checkup. She wanted to be sure she'd not contracted any disease from Ryan
Who knows what that psychopath carries?
****Fifth Day****
She woke up the next morning, freshened up and headed to the hospital.
She got to the hospital at 10 past 11am and few minutes later, it was her turn to see the Doctor
Doctor: How may I help you this morning Ms. Laura Blankson?
Erm, please can I talk to you alone? She asked staring at the nurse seated adjacent her
Nurse: Don't worry it's fine.
She started narrating to the Doctor everything that happened after the nurse had left, She didn't notice the Doctor patting her back and trying to calm her down until after she finished narrating the incident to her. She was in tears
Doctor: I'm so sorry you had to go through that.
It's alright, She forced a smile
Doctor: I'm going to have to take some blood and do an ultrasound, if that's okay with you?
Laura: Sure
Doctor: But first we have to make a report to the police
No Doctor, don't bother. I'll go to the police station with the report, right from here. She lied.
I can't report Ryan to the police
What if he denies it?
What if he wins the case when the issue is taken to court?
I can't take the shame
What if no one believes me?
Laura thought
Okay, The Doctor says as she grabs the syringe
Doctor: Are you ready?
Laura: Yes
The Doctor cleans a spot on Laura's arm to take her blood
She sticks the needle in her arm and draws her blood
Laura: Ouch
Doctor: Sorry
She called the nurse back in and gave the blood to her to take it to the lab.
The Doctor proceeded to do the ultrasound on Laura.
Doctor: We have to be sure if you're pregnant or not.
Laura nodded
She smears some gel on Laura's lower tommy, she puts the instrument on it and moves it around
Doctor: I don't see anything on the ultrasound. But
Laura lifted her brows
Doctor: That doesn't mean you're not pregnant. Let's wait for the test results
Few minutes later, the nurse walks in with the results, she hands it over to the Doctor and walks out
Laura had this clueless face on
Doctor: Erm, Ms. Laura
The test shows you're fine.
She nodded as she faint a smile
Doctor: It also shows you're pregnant but just a few days
Laura's heart began to race
Doctor: You'll have to come for regular checkup so we can make sure the baby stays healthy.
And please stay strong
Thank you, Laura said as she got up to take her leave
