Chapter 15

Laura's POV

7 months later

I keep tossing and turning while Jake sleeps soundly next to me.

I'm 8 months and a week pregnant. I feel so heavy and exhausted.

Jake's eyes open and he looks worried.

What's wrong? Why are you tossing and turning? He asks

I can't sleep, I say trying to sit up on the bed.

He giggles

What's funny? I ask looking irritated

Sorry! Sorry! He says still giggling

I start to get mad at him.

I try getting out of bed but he holds my hand

Hey! I'm sorry. It's just... He giggles again

I frown

Your face looks funny when you're restless. He continues

I pull away from him, out of the bed but I trip on something and fall hard on my back.

My water breaks and I start to have contractions.

Jake gets out of bed quickly to help me up.

I scream in pain, my contractions are bad. I was so heavy that Jake couldn't help me up.

He rushes out and comes back with his dad, in a flash

They lift me up from the cold floor and rush me out into Nathan's car

Jake goes back into the room to get my bag which I'd already packed with everything I'll need at the hospital, during and after delivery.

I cry and scream in pain on our way. My contractions are getting worse.

Hurry! I shout

Jake's sitting next to me, freaking out

Hang in there babe, he says holding my hand

I feel the urge to push but I can't. I start to breathe in and out continuously to keep me calm.

Jake freaks out even more

Oh God, oh God, we're almost there babe.
Dad speed up. He says

Nathan pulls up at the hospital and without shutting his door, he runs into the hospital to get the nurses.

Jake helps me out of the car and onto the wheelchair, the nurses brought

The nurses took me into a room and calls my doctor. Luckily, he's in another room nearby delivering another one.

Jakes rushes into the room with my bag and out of breath

Oh God! I scream

The nurses hook me up to some machines to monitor everything

Nurse: I'll go get the doctor. You're about to have your baby in any minute

After about 30 mins of pushing, a little girl came out.

Jake and I name her Carleen Duke

We got our Christmas present early. I say quietly as I hold her, staring at her

T'was the day before the eve of Christmas

You did well mama. She looks just like you, my two beautiful girls. Jake says smiling
