Chapter 5- Back to Normal

Laura's POV

I was in bed when I heard a small knock on my door. The door opens to reveal a gorgeous-looking Jake.

I sit up right and he sits next to me on the bed.

He leaned forward for a kiss, I was hesitant.

Honestly I was scared, images of that psychopath became visible in my head.

But Jake shouldn't suffer for it, I thought and allowed him to kiss me.

Jake: Are you okay?

I nodded

Jake: Sure?

Yes baby, I said and forced a smile

Jake: Where have you been? Have you been avoiding me or something?

I took in a deep breath with my eyes closed as I was on the verge of crying. I tried to keep my head and thoughts straight.

Me: No! C'mon. Why would I?

Jake: You didn't return any of my calls or reply my texts

Me: I know and I'm sorry but...

But? He raised a questionable eyebrow

It broke my heart knowing that I was about to lie to him

Me: Mum called and said my aunt need help at the restaurant. The lady helping her was ill so I had to go. It was sudden and I was really busy helping her cook and attending to customers. We get home late and sometimes I forget to check my phone. You know me

He nodded.

Me: But when I do check, I promise to call or text back because it's late to do so. I get busy again and I forget to.
I'm sorry baby

I gave him a childish look and pout. He loves it when I do that

Jake: You're such an annoying cute girl

He smiles and leans forward to kiss me.

Jake: It's okay baby, I'm glad you're okay. And I'm sure you look pale because you've not had enough sleep?

Well I look pale because I've been thinking and crying and yeah I'm not able to sleep well. I thought to myself

Me: Yeah! Yeah!

Jake: Okay, I'll sleep over so I can cuddle you to sleep

Me: Yay!

He smirks and roll his eyes

Jake: Speaking of mum, when are they returning?

Me: Not anytime soon. Mum said dad has got a business deal there so they'll stay a bit longer

Jake: Oh okay
