Hello! Just letting you know that if you've seen the third installment of the HTTYD series then this entire chapter might seem quite familiar to you, however I did my best to make it differ from the movie. I also apologize for the short length of this chapter.

You awoke just as the sun was peeking itself over the horizon, golden sunlight warming the surface of the earth and marking the beginning of another day.

Only a sliver of sunlight made this known to you, the distance between yourself and the mouth of the cave being one of quite the length. No matter. Despite being a night dwelling dragon, you enjoyed enjoyed basking in the sun, the black scales covering your body absorbing the heat wonderfully. So waking up and catching some sun wasn't that bad.

(E/C) eyes glinted in the dim lighting as they peeled themselves open. You stretched your legs a bit before standing yourself up and carrying yourself out of the cavern. The claws adorning your feet dragged along the ground slightly, the sleep still working it's way out of your system as you emerged into the bright morning light just outside the cavern entrance.

You looked up, past the great towering trees and to the sky. Whispy clouds stretched along what little of the sky you could see, the yellows and oranges of the sunrise still casting a glow over the world.

With a slow pace, you maneuvered through the dense foliage covering this land. Bushes brushing against the ebony surface of your scales and ferns and plants smushing beneath the weight of your feet and tail. You took caution however, carefully testing the scents in the air around you.

One bitter scent stuck out like a sore thumb, despite being muddled beneath others, it was one you didn't recognize yet knew the cause of.

The human settlement. Though you'd only gotten a glimpse of it the night before, it was most definitely one of the biggest human towns you'd ever seen. Lit up like a beacon in the night. Perhaps you'd have gotten a better look, if you hadn't been distracted by the bizarre dragon who had been gliding underneath you for who knows how long.

That dragon...the first you'd seen who shared such similar characteristics to yourself, however that strange little human sitting atop it's back, now that was weird.

You shook off the thought as you emerged into a fairly open clearing, a meadow carpeted by dark ferns and soft grass. The golden sunrise had mellowed into a casual morning, any signs of the previous darkness of the night had vanished. Rarely were you awake at this time, you simply didn't blend in with the bright blue skies and white clouds. Not like you did in the darkness.

You hung low to the ground in a lazy slouch, you had no special plans at this moment. Not particularly hungry at this time, weren't really tired, nor did you have any obligations.

Slitted eyes drifted back up to the open skies, a slight temptation to jump up and twist among the whispy clouds without a care in the world floated through your thoughts. However you couldn't bring yourself to. You'd be spotted faster than one of those big chunky dragons in a pack of the little scavenging terrors you'd see every so often.

The sensitive ears previously resting on your head shot up at the speed of light, your head snapping towards the subtle snap of a twig in the distance. Off to your right, not far into the tree line past the edge of the meadow.

(E/C) eyes seared holes into whatever was beyond the trees, shrouded in shadow.

Slowly, with somewhat clumsy footsteps crunching the foliage beneath, an ebony beast stepped through the threshold of shadow. The light spilling against the shiny scales and leather strappings.

Vibrant green eyes met the slitted pupils of your own eyes. All previous alarm in your system washed away with the sight of the familiar creature standing in front of you.

He took one hesitant step forward, curious eyes never leaving yours. You had utterly no idea what to do. Instinct told you to become aggressive, however your innate desire to know who this creature was outweighed that instinct.

Mirroring his actions, you took a simple step forward, getting a closer look at the utterly shocked look upon his face. Though, you couldn't say that you probably didn't have a nearly identical expression.

You huffed, and let out a low sound. A simple and experimental greeting within your standards. The mystery dragon returned the sound, adding a few other noises to which you returned readily.

You took cautious steps around him, observing his body from tip to tail, as he did the same to you. Each of you sniffing every so often and finding that it certainly wasn't anything you'd ever smelled before.

One of the first things to catch your attention were the strange straps and pads of leather he adorned across his shoulders and back. Covered in the scent of humans, and unlike anything you'd seen before.

Reaching the end of his tail, you paused. Giving the strange contraption strapped to his fin a good look. One fin appeared to be an obnoxious red color, with a strange symbol or design on it in white. The strange attachment seemed out of sync with the other side, falling limp and neglecting to mirror the position of the other tail fin. You glanced up at the wide green eyes once more, disregarding the strange tail for now. The rest of this stranger was much more interesting than whatever he had on his tail.

You had noticed that his scent was thoroughly mixed with that bitter scent you had pegged to belong to the humans here, quickly reminding you that this was the dragon you'd seen the night before. With the annoyingly talkative human on his back

You took a suspicious step back, eyes narrowing in the slightest. Waging an internal battle with yourself. The curiosity burning up inside you made you want to forget that, to discover all you could about this fellow Night Fury. However the logical part of you told you to stay on guard.

The beast in front of you stared curiously at your change in mood, taking a step forward and sniffling his nose towards you. As if to ask a question. You backed up more, yet making no hostile moves towards the mysterious dragon.

The subtle rustle of a thick bush on the opposite side of the meadow caused you to jerk your head to look behind the black dragon, ears perked and eyes wide, searching for any possible cause of the sound.

Within the shrubbery, a scrawny Viking and his blonde companion crouched, mouths gaped in awe at you and hearts pounding furiously at the ferocity in the heated glare you threw in their direction.

"Is that…?" The words breathlessly left Astrid's lips, her eyes ghosting between both the dark beasts of elusive magnificence.

"It's her, the one Toothless and I saw last night…" Hiccup thought back to the night before, no mistaking it. You were the exact dragon he'd spent all night thinking about.

Your sensitive ears easily picked up the hushed words, pupils narrowing dangerously and aggression flooding your veins. The inside of your throat began heating up with charged plasma. You felt compelled to shoot the energy blast towards whatever was hiding within the tree line, however instead you opted out.

Twisting back and darting through the trees faster than either of the humans or the dragon you'd been enamoured by could register.

Toothless turned to follow where you'd left, however you were long gone. Nothing but a shadow in the dense forest.

However, through the treetops, Toothless, Hiccup and Astrid all caught a glimpse of a dark figure dashing through the empty skies, towards an unknown destination.
