Within the darkness, two elusive beasts circled one another. The air thick with uncertainty and hesitation, the delicate snow fall drifting around the two dragons slowly beginning to build up a layer of frost upon the cool, dry ground.

The dancing firelight illuminated both Night Furies with it's swirling orange and yellow colors. The world was quiet and serene, the soft sound of the fragile snowflakes colliding against the ground and the gentle croons of one elusive beast to another.

Your head bent down low, (E/C) eyes peering up towards Toothless inquisitively. Toothless bucked his head towards you a bit, stepping towards you and mirroring your low posture.

You could see the reflection of yourself mirrored back at you from the pupils of his eyes, you let out a pleased huff, strangely thrilled by the close proximity you held to both the Night Fury and the group of humans you knew were only some feet away. The falling snow and dropping temperature had been long since forgotten by either of you.

The straps and leather padding he had been wearing earlier that morning had vanished, leaving a dragon virtually indistinguishable from yourself, save for the bizarre, obnoxiously bright crimson painted tail fin at the end of his tail. You approached his backside, intent on investigating the contraption further.

Toothless watched with excitement and enthusiasm practically radiating from him as you circled around him. His mouth opened, an almost dopey look adorning his features as he shifted his tail just a bit in order to view his prosthetic alongside you.

He moved his single functional tail fin, opening it and closing it and looking towards you to gauge your reaction. (E/C) wide curiously pinned on the way the red fin lacked any sort of movement. Was he unable to move it the way you could yours? How was he able to fly? You knew he could, and aside from the tail, he seemed to be in fine physical condition.

Despite the questions that this dragon raised within your mind, the energy and attitude he so easily radiated seemed to be easily contagious. Once you seemed finished inspecting his false fin, the Night Fury suddenly lurched backward, the expression on his face just screamed playfulness. One second you were mere feet from him, staring at his tail, the next, he was ten feet away, crouched down low and sending a look that obviously portrayed his intentions. Before you could even think of how to react, he flapped one of his wings towards you, sending a flurry of snowflakes and dirt into your face and jumping around you to avoid any sort of retaliation. You shook the pesky flakes from clinging to your face, turning around to face the sneaky dragon with an accusatory glare. He ignored your expression however, bending low to the ground again and inviting you to retaliate. To which you accepted, by flicking the powdery snow from the nearby ground into his face with your tail.

The two of you continued with this game. Jumping around each other and whatever happened to be oldan obstacle in the game the two of you were so invested in. You stayed near the perimeter of the village, keeping in mind not to get too close to the dancing firelight. You found yourself enjoying this game more and more each second-he'd duck and run as you jumped over him, trying to gain the upper hand, and you would be forced to cover yourself with your wings to avoid a face full of dirt and snow.

Through the intense game the two of you found yourselves invested in, you barely noticed the humans standing off within the perimeter of the village turn and begin walking off. During your playful fight, the two of you had moved more into the foliage and away from the light of the village. You halted momentarily, turning your attention from the other dragon and looking towards the retreating group of humans. Green eyes followed your gaze, widening upon seeing his rider walking off towards the home they both resided in, Astrid walking beside him. Fishlegs nowhere to be seen.

The male dragon switched his gaze from Hiccup, then back to you, then to Hiccup again. Conflict obvious on his features. He looked at you once more, releasing a low bellow from his throat. You understood the message loud and clear.

I should go.

You replied with your own croon, looking from him to the back of the two figures.

I won't stop you.

With those parting messages, your wings spread and you flew off, glancing down briefly to see him staring up at you. Not yet having caught up with the human he seemed so attached to. You paused in your ascent, pumping your wings to keep yourself elevated as you shifted your attention back to the ground you had left. You offered one last parting message.

Let's meet again.

The empty air echoed with the deep hum as it emanated from your throat, snagging the attention of the two young vikings and halting their conversation.

They turned back towards where they had ultimately decided to leave the two of you to become acquainted with each other, seeing the shrouded shape of you hovering some feet in the air, with Toothless on the ground below you standing on his hind legs and staring up towards you. Without warning, you sped off, shooting off over the village to an unknown destination. The vikings head's whirling around to follow the darkened shadow as it sped across the cloudy, snow speckled sky.

Toothless bounded up to the young couple with a renewed vigour and energy. He seemed to be oozing pure excitement. Toothless was generally a pretty happy-go-lucky sort of personality, however, the way he ran circles around Hiccup and Astrid like an overexcited puppy made it pure and obvious: Toothless was over the moon to have met you.

Off in the distance, you sped through the blistering cold. The frigid temperature hitting you like a sack of bricks as you departed from the village. You'd been so wrapped up in the silly play fight, that you had managed to completely ignore the accumulating snow now covering the land. You didn't do too great in the cold, not that you couldn't handle it. You simply preferred the warmer months with clear nights.

You landed with a soft thud on the previously undisturbed, pristine snow. Quickly trotting over and retreating into the cave in which you'd slept the night before. After you had traveled a respectable distance into the caver, your mouth briefly lit up with an intense violet light as you burned a circle into the ground beneath you.

You turned around a couple of times, stamping out any residual flames and lay your body down on the rocky ground. You took a minute to listen to the quiet night that surrounded you. Nothing but a soft breeze blowing past the entrance to your cave, and the soft noises of the snow falling.

Content with the silence of the night, you put your head down and fell asleep.

I'm so sorry guys (does anyone even read this anymore?? It's only got like four chapters lol) it's been so long omg. This chapter has been written for a hot minute but my interest in the franchise fell short. I'm still not THAT into it, and have many other things that have been keeping me busy, however this story is incredibly fun to write and I'd love to try and get back into it soon!!
