All of it is gone. Into ruins. Gwen is all that's left and I don't want that to change. I've lost Ianto, Owen, Tosh...
And it's all my fault. I've basically killed them all. They all died because of me. If they had never met me they would still be alive.

Gwen is very dear to me. She has been there for me in my time of need. But she has a family. And I don't want to ruin that. I want her to have a long healthy life. Not one where people are trying to kill her, or she's being kidnapped, or aliens are trying to eat her.

Over the next month I distance myself from Gwen. I stop taking her calls and texts and tell her that she needs to get her life back and that I don't want to ruin her chance at a family.

I become depressed and start drinking a lot more. I feel worthless and sad. The pain that I caused, to me and to others. The regrets that I have. It all just blurs. It hurts me. The pain just becomes to much and just so unbearable. Drinking takes most of it away. Because I'm immortal I can't get very drunk but if I drink enough, it numbs the pain.

On one of my more sober nights I head to a bar. I go to this bar quite a lot, and the bartender knows what I want. I sit down at the clean polished table and a tall glass of whiskey is passed to me. I smile because they know me well, then frown because a bar knows me well.

I chug the glass. It burns slightly as it sloshes down my throat. I feel a slight buzz but it fades quickly. I set the empty glass on the counter and pull out my wallet. I pay for my drink wanting another, but I decide against it.

Outside is cold and I shiver pulling my jacket tighter around me. I have no where to be. I wander around aimlessly. My strides are short and slow, my hands tucked away hidden in my pockets, my head hug low, thoughts buzzing loudly in my head.

Soon I'm walking down an ally way I've never been down before. I look around, trying to remember where I came from. My surroundings are unfamiliar.

Then I hear a dull whirring noise. I spin looking for the object that unforgettable noise is coming from. Low and behold I turn a corner and there she is. The TARDIS is standing there like golden Ray of Hope and happiness. Moonlight streaks onto her in all the right ways. Her windows seem to be like a saving grace to me. Her shiny handle a welcome. Then the door opens. (A/N lol 😂 it sounds like he's in love with the TARDIS)

Out steps a gracious figure. I recognize him immediately as the doctor. His coat billows behind him as he makes a quick step out. He turns and smiles at me. "Jack!" I smile and run to him. Then a woman steps out after him. I falter but try to stay strong.

'Of course he has a companion. He always does no matter what.' I think. "Hey doc!" His grin widens. "Jack this is Martha. Martha this is jack." I smile at her and stick out my hand. "How do ya do m'lady." I say taking her hand and bending down to kiss it.

I don't even know why I do it. I flirt with everyone even though I know I'm very gay. I guess it's to hide the pain, but I'm not so sure. "Stop that" the doctor interjects. "Stop what?" I ask playfully. "You know, that." He jesters at me in a circular motion "the... Flirting" he says. I chuckle. "What? Are you jelious?" I joke laughing. He snorts "you wish" by now he's giggling as well.

Martha clears her throat. "Doctor." We stop and look at her. "Yes" he says. "Weren't we gonna do something?" She asks. "The doctor looks at his watch then back at Martha. "Well we still have about an two hours 'till the meteor shower starts. I got us here early in case you wanted to do something." Martha nods and a soft 'ok' comes from her. I look at the doctor and bite my lip. A million thoughts rush around in my head all yelling at me to do something. "Hey doc?" I ask slowly and timidly. He hums softly and looks at me in reply. "Mind if I tag along?" I question. "Not at all!" He says waving his hand as if to push the thought of saying 'no' aside.

I smile broadly. Martha seems to sigh like she was annoyed with the outcome of our little agreement. She crosses her arms and rolls her eyes, but the doctor is oblivious to this.

We walk around Cardiff for a little while after I eventually figured out where we were. Martha stays glued to the doctor with her arm linked around his. The doctor doesn't seem to mind, or even notice for that matter.

We look at some of the shops. Going inside some and buying a couple of things here and there. Eventually we find ourselves at the beach with a large blanket and sandwiches for each of us.

We are all sat on the blanket in a triangle eating. I'm sitting cross legged half way through my BLT. The doctor is sat to my right completely finished with his steak and cheese, and Martha has only just begun with her special of the day sub.

It's peaceful as I lay down on my back peering up at the sky. Martha has finished her sandwich now and is looking at the doctor who followed my lead and is now on his back. Martha sighs glumly and lays down.

The doctor takes a small breath and quietly says "get ready it almost about to start" without breaking the peacefulness.

We stay silent. Breathing in the cold night air. Then all of the sudden the doctor points at the sky and yells "look! Look, there!"  And sure enough I see a bunch of meteors. They shoot across the sky in a few short bursts of light. There are lots of them all shooting over us. "You know doc, it's almost a beautiful as you are." I say quietly.

He giggles and I smile. My happiness that he just took it and didn't say 'stop flirting' made me excited. I lay there grinning idiotically with my hands tucked under my head and my brain running wild with thoughts of what could be.

Martha let's out a quiet and small huff. Then, almost like a light switch, she smiles again. She does this strange pretend shiver obviously trying to get the doctor to notice. Oh I see what she's doing! She's trying to flirt with the doctor as well! Well the jokes on her, he's an oblivious idiot.

She clears her throat and says in a small meek tone "doctor I'm cold" she rubs her arms to emphasize her words. He looks at her worriedly then says "oh, well then we should head back to the TARDIS. I don't need you getting sick." She bites her lips as obviously her plan back fired. But not knowing how to argue with going she stays quiet.

In the end we end up walking back to the TARDIS. I think about what to do next when we get there. I want to spend more time with the doctor but I don't want it to be awkward as a just intrude in their lives.

Eventually we arrive at the dreaded place, for me anyway. I bite my lip trying to think of excuses as to why I have stayed. And it was working even harder for reasons why he should let me travel with them. When I can't find any I hold my breath. "Hey doc?" He turns to me. "Can? Can I stay with you for a while? I mean if you don't want me to-to-to go with you I mean I would get it just le-" he cuts off my rambling with a calm, soft "of course jack." He says this meaningfully and with lots of emotion. His steady gaze is affirming.

I sigh with relief "thank you doc. Really" I whisper and smile for he doesn't know how much I really mean those words.

We head inside the TARDIS. The doctor holding open the door as Martha and I slip through into the gigantic room. The doctor walks up to the control panel and stands there touching a few levers and buttons for a moment. Then he swiftly turns on the spot and claps his hands together. "So!" He exclaims "where to?" He looks back and forth between Martha and I. I lean on the railing and think. 'Where do I want to go? I guess it doesn't matter as long as I'm with him' I look at him with a smile. "Hhmmm. Not sure..... Somewhere...." I chuckle to my self "... Exciting!" I say with a laugh.

The doctor thinks for a moment petting his chin in thought. He snaps his fingers and says "How about we g-" *rrrrrriiiiiinnnggggg* we stop smiling and look around trying to find the source or the noise. Eventually our eyes land on Martha. She is frantically trying to find her phone. She searches quickly trying to reach it in time to answer. When she locates the pocket it was hidden in she answers with a questioning "hello?"
