A/N: Maybe a spoiler? I mean its my own head canon but if you haven't seen endgame I would suggest not reading it.
You have been warned!
"What would you say to him? You know, if he was still here?"
The skinny, tall, blonde boy turned to face the shorter, brown-haired one. He sighed in defeat.
"I guess I would say that I was sorry. For not coming to see him these past few years. For not making sure he was okay."
The boy's name was Harley Keener. One of Tony Stark's former acquaintances, that is, after finding Tony trying to repair the IronMan suit in his garage. He had come to admire Stark, and helped him build gadgets to complete his mission and kill a terrorist known as the Mandarin.
"It's not your fault. You know that, right?" The other boy said bitterly. His name was Peter Parker. Former mentee of Stark, Spiderman, and a recently-made Avenger. Tony had been like a father to him.
Until he was ripped from his grasp at the hands of Thanos.
"If anything, it's mine." Peter shook his head. "I could have tried harder to hold Thanos back, to prevent him from snapping so Mr. Stark wouldn't have had to."
Without another word, Harley hugged the boy he had just met. The boy he didn't even know, but he knew he could trust. "It wasn't your fault. We both know Tony would have done it anyways."
Peter sighed. "Yeah, you- you're probably right." He hugged Harley tightly, wrapping his arms around the taller boy's back. After a few minutes, he pulled away. "How did you meet Mr. Stark, anyways?"
Harley smiled sadly at the memory. "I was... about 11. Late one night, I heard a sound coming from the garage, so I walked down by myself with a homemade potato gun. I thought it was gonna be a robber or something, but it wasn't. I found my self staring at the one and only Tony Stark, tinkering away. Next thing I know, I'm following him through the city."
"Wow, that was brave."
"Or just stupid." Harley sighed. "What about you?"
"Well, I came home from school one day to find him sitting on my couch talking to my aunt."
Harley laughed. "I guess he had a way of showing up unexpectedly."
Peter gave him a small smile. "I guess he did. Anyways, he told me he needed me to go to Germany and fight Captain America."
Harley's eyes widened. "No way."
"Yup. Then... well, then I did."
"Did you win?"
"Uh... sure, let's call it that."
Harley laughed, then turned his gaze wistfully towards the lake, where a wreath of flowers had been set afloat as a memorial for the hero. For Iron Man.
"I'm gonna miss him so much." He said this as tears began pooling in his eyes.
Peter stood beside him. "Me too."
And there they stood, two young boys, both of them touched by Tony's kindness, intellect, and fatherly intentions. Both of them now affected by the same loss. The loss of a mentor, a father, a hero, and a friend.
Harley looked at Peter. "Friends?" He held out his hand in question.
Peter shook it gratefully. "Friends."
