Alida's P.O.V.

I ran out of class and to the entrance to see my dad. He was smiling and me and crouched down to catch me when I jumped in his arms. I laughed as he spun me around. He gave me a kiss on my cheek and then put me down.

"Happy birthday sweetheart!" My dad said. I smiled at him and we walked to the car.

"How does it feel to be 12?" My dad asked while looking at the road. I shrugged.

"I don't feel anything." I frowned. My dad laughed and pulled into the parking lot. I looked at where we were and it was my favorite pizza place. I squealed as I jumped out the car and ran inside. My dad followed shortly after. We got a booth and ordered our food.

"What do you want to do after this?" He asked.

"Go home and watch movies with you." I said. I never really had friends so my dad was my best friend. He chuckled.

"Let me guess, Mulan?" He said and I nodded. That was my favorite movie. When the food came, we ate and left to go home.

As we were watching the movie, I slowly drifted off and fell asleep. I woke back up to a glass breaking. I got up and headed to the kitchen to see dad stumbling as he went over to the fridge for another beer.

"Dad are you okay?" I asked. He looked up and his face changed into anger.

"Do you think I'm okay?" He asked but I didn't answer.

"Answer me!" My dad yelled. He was starting to scare me.

"N-no." I stuttered.

"Well you're right. And do you want to know why I'm not okay?" He said walking closer to me. I didn't answer and just slowly backed up.

"You're the reason why my wife is gone. Every year your birthday passes, it just reminds me of how you selfishly took her life away." He said. I felt tears in my eyes. Did I really kill my mom?

"I didn't kill her." I said.

"You took the only thing I loved away from me. And now I'm stuck with you. You're so ungrateful." My dad said. I started to cry, he walked up to me and grabbed my by the arm.

"The only reason why you're still alive is because of me. But I should've given you up a long time ago." He yelled. His grip was getting tighter. I tried to get out but he just held onto me tighter.

"Dad, you're hurting me." I said. He looked at his hand and let go. I looked down at my arm and saw it start to bruise.

"Go to your room, I'm sick of seeing your face." My dad yelled. I got up and ran to my room. I laid on my bed and just cried myself to sleep.

I woke up in tears and I felt sweaty. I looked around and realized I was on the floor. I got up and made my way to the bathroom. I lifted up my shirt in the mirror and saw a big bruise on my right rib. I winced as I touched it. I remember my dad kicked me there last night just for the hell of it. I sighed and hop in the shower. If Alex saw this she would flip. She's so nice for no reason, I just met her and it feels like she knows more about me than my own father. The way she stood up for me yesterday was amazing, I felt safe with her for some reason. It feels like nothing could hurt me. My phone ringing took me out of my thoughts, I got out the shower and answered my phone without checking the ID.

"Hello?" I said. I closed my eyes cause I was still tired.

'What's up grumpy." Alex said.

"I'm not grumpy."

'Are you sure? Because you sound pretty grumpy'

"I just woke up"
