Chapter Fifty-Six

"I never said the babies were twins . . ." Seokjin trailed off.

"What do you mean?" Sehun asked.

Seokjin smiled, as all three of them stared at him expectantly. "I mean, you're carrying around a medical wonder," he replied. "It's called superfetation, meaning you were already pregnant when you got pregnant again. Which would explain why I couldn't see the other baby, because it was conceived later by about a week."

Baekhyun couldn't comprehend what he was hearing. Two babies. But not twins. Two separate pregnancies.

"Holy shit," Sehun whispered. "So does this mean....?" Sehun trailed off as a giant grin spread across his lips, before suddenly he jumped to his feet with an excited cry. "Oh my god, I'm having a baby!" he cheered.

Chanyeol stared at him with his jaw dropped, and then he looked at Baekhyun —- who was a million miles away —- to Seokjin. "So . . . the bigger baby is . . . Sehun's child?"

Seokjin nodded. "It would appear so . . . The bigger baby, baby A for now, was conceived with the artificial insemination. And baby B, came later when you and Baekhyun . . ." he trailed off, insinuating what everyone already knew.

Chanyeol nodded, his mind still racing. He didn't know what to feel or think; he was too stunned. As Chanyeol lost himself in his thoughts, and Sehun began to think of baby names, Baekhyun finally managed to pull himself together.

He cleared his throat, and hoarsely said, "Seokjin, can we please hurry this along so I can go home?"

Seokjin nodded with an understanding smile, and then he proceeded to collect the data he needed before Baekhyun, Sehun, and Chanyeol were able to leave. Sehun kissed Baekhyun's cheek, and lovingly touched his belly before hopping inside his car and drive home to his apartment, leaving Chanyeol and Baekhyun to drive home in silence.

When Baekhyun and Chanyeol got home, Toben excitedly greeted them at the door like he did everyday. Baekhyun scooped him up into his arms, and absentmindedly petted him as he wandered his way into the living room. Chanyeol followed after him a moment after, and sat beside him carefully on the couch. A long silence passed between them, before Chanyeol broke the tension.

"What are you thinking?" Chanyeol quietly muttered.

Baekhyun continued to robotically pet Toben, as he replied, "I'm thinking . . . that I have two babies and two baby daddies." Baekhyun's brow scrunched and he muttered, "This wasn't supposed to happen, Chanyeol. Everything feels so much more complicated now." Baekhyun sighed and carefully put Toben on the floor, before glancing at Chanyeol with fresh tears in his eyes. "Everything's so messed up now!" he cried.

Chanyeol's felt his heart squeeze at the sight of Baekhyun in tears, and he quickly pulled him into his arms and rubbed his back. "Baekhyun, our lives became complicated the moment we met. So we'll be having two babies with Sehun as a father to one, but we knew that was a chance from the beginning. And now we know for sure. Baekhyun," Chanyeol softly said as he gently clasped his face in his hands, "one of those babies is ours, just as we hoped for. So no more crying, because we have baby names to decide on."

Chanyeol's words warmed Baekhyun's heart, and he wiped away his tears as he softly replied, "You're right, we should be thinking what to name our baby."
