Chapter Sixty-Four

Hyuk came into the world with a loud cry, followed soon after by his half-sister, Hyuna, that wasn't one to be outshined. She let out a cry of her own, that was loud enough to hurt everyone's ears. After the nurses had cleaned off each baby, they placed them carefully in Baekhyun's arms. Chanyeol and Sehun crowded around them, and immediately fell in love with their children.

They were beautiful; perfect in every way. Hyuk had Chanyeol's thick and curly hair, and Baekhyun's soft round cheeks and soulful brown eyes. Hyuna had Baekhyun's thin, finely soft hair, and Sehun's near constant perpetual frown and and his soft hidden features.

"They're absolutely beautiful," Chanyeol softly murmured as he held his hand out to Hyuk, who beadily blinked up at him with a small yawn. Chanyeol felt his heart melt, and Baekhyun sighed.

"Can I hold Hyuna, please?" Sehun softly asked, his eyes transfixed on his baby girl.

Baekhyun was reluctant to agree, but he couldn't exactly say no, so he nodded. Sehun beamed brightly and gently reached out to grab Hyuna. He scooped her up gently, and craddled her in his arms as he took a seat on the edge of Baekhyun's bed with a wistful smile. Hyuna gazed up at Sehun with big, beautiful brown eyes that seemed to miss nothing, before yawning and blinking back her sleepiness. Sehun smiled down at her, and tenderly kissed her forehead. He sighed.

She's so beautiful, he thought. Sehun smiled as he gently caressed the side of her cheek, while she snoozed away in his arms.

Chanyeol and Sehun stayed as long as they could, and then too soon visiting hours were over and they had to leave. They promised to be back the next day bright and early, with clothes for both Baekhyun and babies, since they were getting released in the morning.

A young man raced through the hallways frantically, reading each name tag on every door he passed. When he found the room he was looking for, he sighed in relief and his dormant excitement began to bubble to the surface as he reached out to open the door when . . .

"Sir, it's pass visiting hours," a nurse spoke softly.

The young man jumped, startled by the sudden presence of the nurse. "I just drove all the way here. I'm visiting family, can't I just—-"

"I'm sorry, sir. This patient needs their rest, you can come back tomorrow during visiting hours," she said.

The young man sighed, and mumbled, "Okay. Thanks, anyway," before turning back around the way he came. He would need to find a place to sleep for the night, and he knew exactly where to go.

Chanyeol felt restless in bed, after spending his nights sleeping besides his love it felt too big for just him. He missed holding Baekhyun in his arms, before drifting off into a wistful sleep with the comforting scent of his stawberry and mango shampoo filling his nose. He needed the sweet exchange of words they shared every night before going to sleep, and he—-

Chanyeol felt Toben stir at the end of the bed, and by the light spilling in through the room through the blinds, he watched as Toben ran towards the door. He started to softly growl and bark, and beginning to grow concerned, Chanyeol rolled to the side to flick on the bedside light. Toben was laying flat on his stomach with his little black nose pushed underneath the door, soft whines emanating from his tiny body. Chanyeol frowned, and thought, What is he doing? He's never acted this way before . . .

Chanyeol bit his bottom lip nervously as he quietly slipped out of bed, and walked towards the door. He pushed Toben back with his foot to keep him back as he slowly opened the door, before sliding outside into the hallway; Toben whining behind the closed door. Chanyeol walked slowly down the small hallway into the living room, and nearly stumbled over his feet when he saw that the kitchen light was on.

Shit, who's in the house? It wouldn't be Kyungsoo this late, or Sehun . . . Chanyeol thought, as he continued to quietly creep forward. He didn't have anything to defend him as he stood directly outside the kitchen, he would just have to relay on the element of surprise.

Inhaling a deep breath, Chanyeol quickly turned the corner to find a man going through the fridge. His back was to Chanyeol, but something about him seemed oddly familiar, yet Chanyeol couldn't put his finger on it.

Chanyeol still hasn't moved or said anything, and his element of surprise was wasted when the man turned around holding everything to make a sandwich; he even had a bag of cheese in his mouth. Chanyeol blinked in surprise, and the man gasped —- the cheese falling to the floor —- before he cried, "Holy crap! You scared me!"

Chanyeol could have laughed, but he didn't as he replied, "Baekbeom, it's late. Why didn't you tell me we were coming over, I would have stayed up to wait for you, instead of you sneaking in like some creepy burglar."

"Ah, I'm sorry. I tried visiting Baek, but the mean nurse wouldn't let me . . ." Baekbeom trailed off with a pout.

Chanyeol sighed. "Well, you can come with me tomorrow when I go to pick him up. He'll be coming home along with the babies."

"Oh wow, so soon?"

Chanyeol nodded. "Yup, he didn't need a C-section so it's perfectly safe for him to come home."

Baekbeom grinned, and rubbed his hands together almost villainously. "Tomorrow is going to be fun," he said, to which Chanyeol just laughed with a roll of his eyes.
