Jonathan's POV
I was on edge for the rest of the day. What if Nancy decides to tell people and out me? But then a new question popped into my head right after that thought came. Out me as what, though? I couldn't wrap my head around it. I didn't know enough about this kind of stuff to figure out exactly who I am. I definitely didn't know who to ask either.
That's when Mike came up to me after school. "Can we talk?" He sounded like he needed to, so I agreed.
He looked around, making sure no one could hear him. "Alone?"I was confused, but complied. He walked around to the side of the school where no one goes and took a breath. "I heard what you said to Nancy and I wanted to know..." He trailed off. At first I thought he was going to get mad at me for hurting his sister until he said, "how did you know you liked guys."
I wasn't sure how to answer that. I knew that I liked Steve, but did that attraction extend to guys in general? I didn't want to give Mike a wrong answer though. "I just knew that my attraction towards...them was more than just platonic. You know, like dating and stuff like that." I didn't really know how to put it into words. It was such a complicated thing for me. "Why do you ask?"
Mikes eyes widened. Clearly he didn't expect me to read that much into his question. "I think I, uh, have feelings for a boy." He looked down.
I was shocked, but I didn't want to make him feel more uncomfortable than he already did. "Okay. That's okay. I think you should take some time to figure this out before rushing into anything." I realized that advice applied more to me than it probably did for him.
He nodded, still seeming unsure. "Thanks. I'll, uh, ask you again if I have any more questions." And with that, he hopped on his bike and rode away.
I got in my car and picked Will up from school. While I was waiting for him, I saw Steve waiting for Dustin. He looked as cute as ever. He wore a green sweatshirt with light blue skinny jeans that fit him just right. I quickly looked away before he noticed me staring, but, to my dismay, it didn't work.
His eyes caught mine and he started walking over to my car. He leaned on my window and smiled. "I figured I'd see you here."
I was instantly aware of everything around me. I don't know why, but Steve always intimidated me. "Oh, uh, yeah. I'm just, uh, here to pick up Will," I stuttered.
He chuckled at my stuttering. "I figured." The bell rang and kids started walking out from every exit of the school. "Well, that's my cue to leave. You should call me sometime, though. I want to see you more." He handed me a piece of paper and walked back to his car.
I unfolded it and saw his number written in his hand writing. It was as if he planned to give it to me, which made me blush.
Hey! Ik this chapter was hella short and ik it's been almost a year since I updated this book, but I definitely want to start writing it again! I'm throwing in a little love story for Mike on the side ;) but yeah! Let me know what you think
