Hi. My name is Lily Rose Mitchell. I am currently seventeen years old. I have an AMAZING boyfriend, and I have the best friends ever. I also have an awesome job. I love my life now! But my life wasn't always this great.

I am going to be telling you about my life, starting with the beginning.......

It all started on the day when my mother was in the hospital in labor with me.

My parents were in room 204 in the White Dove Hospital in New York City. My father was right next to my mother while she was giving birth to me. I have a really great birth date by the way; February 14th1994. Yes, on Valentine's day. Weird right? Well, anyway, it was 4:30 in the morning when I was born.

Wait, if I'm going to tell the story, I might as well start at the very beginning..

My parents were Lucy and Thomas Mitchell. They had married each other when they were in their early 20's, on December 24th in 1989. They had decided to not have any kids so that they could have all the time in the world, just the two of them, alone. But one day, my mother had found out that she was accidentally pregnant.

She and my father had spent weeks on figuring out what to do about the situation. They thought about abortion, but my mother didn't want to kill the baby inside her, she thought that that was too cruel and mean. So soon they decided that after I was born, I was to be put up to adoption.

So here I was, on my way to life, a new creation put on earth, but my parents were still going with their decision. Adoption. So while I was in the adoption center, my parents were having a great time enjoying themselves alone. Without me. Sounds awesome right? Maybe to them, and everyone else. But not for me. They didn't even care to look at me. Not even once. Whenever I think about that, it makes me very upset and angry and confused all at once about why they would do this to me.

There was this one nurse that I remember, that use to always be with me. She was like the mom I never had. She took care of me, played with me, and brought me home with her every night to make sure that I was safe. She just loved me. Her name was Ruby Elizabeth. She had chin-length, dark-brown hair, was about 5'6, and had small brown eyes which were really pretty. I think she was in her early forties, or something like that.

She would never let me out of her sight, or let anyone else take care of me. If I wasn't where she could see me, or if she saw someone else take care of me, she would freak, and I mean freak like big time!

She was even the one who decided to name me. She had named me Lily Rose Mitchell because that what her best friend's name, and she had died in car accident. It was really sweet actually. I was sorry about her friend. Ruby would show me pictures of her and her family, and would talk about her a lot. I wish that I would have been able to meet her. She seemed like a really nice person. She had kept my last name the same, which I thought was nice of her.

Anyway, so here we are four years later, it is June 4th. Ruby and I were playing together in the ball pit in the play room, and all of a sudden a lady comes and Ruby stands up and talks to her. I look at her, and I can see the sadness slowly showing in her eyes, even though she thinks that I can't see it. Something was wrong. I just didn't know what it was.

Then Ruby came over, picked me up, and hugged me really tight, and she took me to the front office. I've never been there, so I was confused of what all was going on. There was standing a woman who looked to be in her late-forties. She had blackish brown color hair. She had a big huge grin on her face.

"awwww... she is just adorable!!" she said. She was kind of creeping me out, so I hid my face in Ruby.

"Yes, she is.. And sorry, she is just shy."

"Oh, not a problem. It's all right. What is her name?"

"Her name is Lily."

"What a cute name! How old are you Lily?"

I didn't answer her so Ruby did. "She is four years old."

"What a lovely age. I sometimes wish that I could be four again." she said with a little chuckle.

"Lily, this lady's name is Mrs. Smith. She is going to take you home, and is going to take great care of you."

Then one of the ladies at the front desk pointed Mrs. Smith where she needed to sign on the papers. While they were doing that, Ruby took me to my little room, put me down on the bed, and started packing my things.

"Who is she Wuby?" Since I couldn't talk very well, I called her Wuby instead of Ruby.

"That lady is going to take you home with her. She is adopting you honey." My heart stopped just then.

"But I want to be with you! I will NOT go with her!! She cweepy!!"

"Now sweetheart, you know better than to just judge people without meeting them. And besides, there's nothing I can do to stop it."

"But I could go to your home. And stay with you... You could adopt me!! Please don't let this happen!!"

"There is nothing I can do about this. But I promise that I will visit you. Don't you worry. Ok?"

"Ok... But you making a BIG mistake Wuby." I said with tears starting to come down my cheeks.

I didn't want to leave with that creepy lady. I wanted to stay at the cozy adoption center with Ruby. She was the only person I knew and trusted. Just then, Ruby turned and looked at me, and walked over to me. She took me in her arms and gave me a really big hug. Soon I could hear her sniffling, and knew that she was crying too. After about a minute, the lady from the front desk came and knocked my door.

"It's time to go Lily," she said. She took my suitcase and walked out. Ruby still holding me, wiped me face and then her face.

"You be good now you hear?"

"Yes Wuby."

"Now I promise that I will visit you, and we will spend time together, and have some fun. Alright?"

"Okay." I said trying to calm down.

"Alrighty then. Let's go."

"Okay Wuby..."

So Ruby takes me outside to Mrs. Smith's car. It was a little chilly out, so I cuddled with Ruby, who was still holding me. Mrs. Smith had a black Toyota car. Inside, there was a black car seat, which I figured was for me. Ruby gave me a BIG hug, and then put me in the car and buckled me up. Mrs. Smith said thank you and good bye, and went into her car in the driver's seat and started up the car.

I waved at Ruby while we drove off, trying to hold back the tears. She waved back, and I started crying all over again. I saw her run inside so that no one else could see her cry. I wiped my face with my shirt and just looked outside my window.

I was thinking to myself about what was going to happen to me? What was this weird lady going to do with me? Why did she have to ruin my happy, content life there at the adoption center? Why did she have to adopt ME? Out of all the kids, she chose ME. There was just one thing to do; just wait and see what happens to me now.
