Buzzzz.....My phone goes off letting me know that it's time. I got out of my sheets and turned off the television. After changing my clothes I headed down stairs trying to make as little sound as possible. There were some cookies left on the table, they look so lonely without no one to eat them, I thought. After stuffing my mouth with some cookies, I headed towards the door on my heel.
I can make it without making a sou-
"Booo!" I jumped at the sound just behind me.
"Grana!" I exclaimed by the sudden appearance of my grandma.
She just laughs. "Don't laugh, you were about to give me a heart attack." I said after calming my racing heart.
"You were just fine." She said still laughing.
"No I wasn't, what if I would have died?" I put a hand on my chest.
"Don't be dramatic Alice, and where were you even going, you were looking like a creep wandering in the house" She asked heading towards the kitchen.
"You were watching me?" I gasp.
"Not really, I was in the kitchen when I heard something, and when I came out, you were having a mouthful of cookies. I already told you not to eat too much, so I thought why not scare you as a punishment?" She chuckled.
"I can't help it, your chocolate chip cookies are the best things apart from the brownies of course " I said.
She smiled "I know you love them, but you had two batches already. And you didn't tell me where were you going?"
"Oh right! I was going to the cafe and I thought you were taking a nap, so didn't want to wake you up." I said.
"Again?"
"Yeah, you know I've loved that place since I was a kid." I said picking up a cookie.
"Yeah I know, off you go then, just be home soon, you haven't spent much time with me since you got here." She sighed making a sad face.
"Aww grana, don't say that, I'll be home soon, then you can give me some baking lessons okay? " I smiled at her.
"Fine." She smiled, after kissing me on the forehead and giving me a whole speech about being careful she finally let me go. I know she gets concerned about me because of that......incident? but it's been months and I'm fine now. I do have minor headache now and then but nothing serious, she shouldn't worry too much. It's finally my summer break after the dreadful senior year, I honestly hated it back home. I had no friends so I usually used to spend all my time either studying reading, or eating. I wasn't a nerd but I always tried to be on the good side of teachers, I was usually alone all the time, and I guess that was enough reason for getting bullied. But I'm just happy that it's over now.
When I look around, the trees on the sidewalk, the flowers looking like they will smile any time, the birds chirping on trees, the fresh air and most of all the peaceful feeling that I get when I'm here reminded me that I've missed this place so much.
After a little walk I reached my destination. I tilted my head "The Hideout Cafe" the familiar letters already made me calm inside. It was a modern cafe with vintage furniture, a small but cozy place to hang out. The thing that I loved about this place was that it was kind of a library cafe, it had bookshelves filled with books at the very end of it, which was great for me. This place was never crowded, which was more than perfect because I didn't like being around too many people.
I got myself a gingerbread coffee and my favorite carrot muffin, which was already a last one, thank God! I made my way to the end where there were no people, after picking a book from the corner shelf I was walking to my chair, suddenly there was a slight throbbing in my head. When I closed my eyes I bumped into someone, I opened my eyes and saw that I had spilled most of my drink onto the person's book. Crap!
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry." when I looked up at the person, it was a guy. He had dark brown hair, their tips brushing his forehead and the most intense honey brown eyes I had ever seen, which were glaring at me right now.
"I-I'm really sorry, I'll pay the amount to the owner." I stuttered a bit and pointed to the ruined copy of 'The Secret' in his hand. I can pay whatever it is at the counter, that copy looks old anyway, I'm sure they'll accept it.
" It's mine " he snapped, his voice deep and alluring. He didn't even wait for me to reply and walked away.
It's his? Oof!!!
