As the lights turned on, I gasped. There were paintings there. Not just any paintings but gorgeous ones, the ones you would see in a gallery or the ones you would want to buy but couldn't afford. I didn't know much about painting but they were beautiful, really beautiful. Did Nate really make all of these? I couldn't believe it. I went in and looked around. There were many canvases lying on the floor. One of them had a lot of autumn trees surrounding a pleasing shadow of two people walking away. I looked at the one on the wall, it was a painting of an hourglass, inside there was a girl sleeping who was falling down in the form of sand.
Beside it was one painting with a picture of an eye and a small boy standing on the rim trying to look inside it.
"Wow," I murmured, touching my fingertips on it.
When I glanced at the very corner of the room, there was a portrait of a woman, a really pretty woman. She had an open book in her hand, and she was smiling. Her smile was so bright it was radiating through the canvas. 'Who is she?' I wondered. When I went in to touch the painting I heard footsteps behind me and before I could look around,I was yanked away from it and came face to face with a very fuming Nate.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" He growled.
"I was just looking for yo-"
"Looking for what? Who the fuck told you to enter this room without my permission?" He screams in my face.
"Don't scream! I was looking for you, because you were talking forever to come down." I pushed his hand away from my wrist.
"Get out." He looked at me with rage filled eyes.
"What?"
"Get.Out" He said a bit louder pointing towards the door.
"Really?" I asked. "I didn't mean to come in here, I was looking for you to tell you that I'm going home." Tears picking in my eyes, I look away from him towards the floor.
"So you've told me, now get out." He said, his eyes were turning red. He was looking at me as if he was going to explode any minute. Why is he so angry about this? "Now." He said again.
I looked at him and darted towards the door. I didn't turn around and went straight home, lights were already out so I assume grana was already asleep. I went into my room and lay on my bed.
What just happened? I didn't mean to swoop around in his room,I was just looking for him and he lashed out on me for no reason. It's true that I probably shouldn't have gone inside that room without his permission. But he didn't have to lash out on me like that? All I did was look at his paintings which he said he would show me some day anyway. I do understand that those paintings must mean so much to him if he was reacting that way. But he really kicked me out as if I was stealing one of his precious paintings.
What did I expect anyway, for us to be friends or at least something close to it? He sees me just as an acquaintance, nothing else. If he doesn't want to meet me again, then so be it. I'm not going to talk to him too, yes I shouldn't have meddled in his business, but there was no need for him to be so rude to me.
I opened my phone and started going through my Instagram. I didn't want to think about him, I wanted to distract myself from all this. After looking through some memes my mood was a bit okay. I took my earphones out, pulled my duvet up and fell asleep listening to some music.

"Ugh"
I groaned and reached for my phone, it was 9 in the morning. There was too much light going straight into my eyes, my head was pounding again and I was really hungry so I got out of the bed and went straight to the kitchen to eat something. I ate a lot yesterday at that diner, so I shouldn't be this hungry early in the morning, but I'm always hungry so that explains why.
Grana was already up. She was dressed up, ready to go somewhere when she came down the stairs.
"Good morning sweetie." She smiled at me but she looked worried.
"Morning. Are you going somewhere?" I asked.
"Yes actually, I wanted to talk to you about this yesterday but I was really tired so I slept early." She said.
"Oh, what happened? Why do you look so worried?" I asked, concerned.
"It's Ruth. She isn't doing so well lately and has been admitted to the hospital." She said anxiously.
"Oh no, is she okay?" Grandma Ruth is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. She was grana's best friend from childhood. The last time I had met her was at least a year ago, when she came home with her grandson. She had also bought cookies for me, what can I say? I have a sweet tooth. She is a very lovely person, I hope she's fine.
"Oh it's nothing serious dear. She was feeling dizzy a few days ago, turns out she was having symptoms of low blood sugar. She's fine now, so don't you worry. But she says she misses me, so I need to meet her to cheer the old lady up." She laughs lightly. "I'm just worried about you, will you be okay on your own? Or do you want to come with me?"
"Grana, you don't have to worry about me. Ruth needs you right now, you should be with her. I'll be fine, I'm a big girl now." I smiled at her.
"Oh I can see that." She said pointing at my grown chest.
"Grana! That's not what I meant." I laughed. My chest has grown good enough since the last time I was here and I love that, but I still feel conscious about my body everytime I look into the mirror. Confidence? What's that?
"You are going to be such a beautiful woman one day sweetie." She hugged me. She's always been so encouraging, always telling me that I look pretty. Always trying to boost my confidence, and I love her for that.
