Carrying on

Damien

I pulled up to Roc's shop and stopped my bike. Getting off it, I strolled into the place as Roc was working on a motorcycle.

"Glad to see you could join us," he remarked as Jag was grabbing a tool from one of the toolboxes.

"Got hammered last night," I said as I removed my jacket and grabbed some tools.

"You still pining over my old lady?" He asked, not bothering to look up from what he was doing.

"Oh, he's pining all right. I told him to find some chick and bang the living hell out of her since Jaden sees some new dick," Jag answered as he worked on a bike.

I didn't say anything as I got to work.

"Damien, you can't keep pining over someone, whom you will never have. It's best to move on," Roc said as I continued to work.

"How about if I don't bother with any chick? I was better off when I didn't care about anyone," I said as I continued to work. They both left it alone after that. When it came to caring about people, I was better off not giving a shit. It's not like anyone gave a rat's ass about me.

I worked on one of the bikes when I heard Elise's voice and someone else's. Glancing past the bike, I saw Ramona who glanced at me. I rolled my eyes and went back to work. I didn't need the hassle of listening to her berate me about my feelings.

It's easy for people to say I need to move on, but they never had the kind of life I had. It's not like I had anyone to give a shit about me. It would have been nice to have someone care and love me, but it was never going to happen.

I was better off alone.

Elise and I walked into Rocco's shop. She wanted to see him, although I'm not sure if bickering was what she meant. While those two bickered about some stupid shit Rocco had done, I notice Damien working on a bike. I decided to hassle him. It was better than listening to these two argue like an old married couple.

I casually strolled over to where he was and leaned over the bike to look at him.

"How's it going?" I asked as he continued working. He didn't say anything back to me. "Are you ignoring me, because I wouldn't help you in your stupid quest?"

"Nope, I'm busy," he answered as he continued to work.

"I'm surprised you're working and not watching Elise's every move," I mentioned as he continued to work.

"I've decided to listen to everyone and move on. Now if you excuse me, I got work to do," Damien said, standing up and walking over to a tool chest. Okay, that was odd. The other day he was completely different, and today he was abrupt with me, no comebacks or anything.

He walked back over and sat down on his stool as he went back to work on the bike.

I guess I will have to change that, I've decided. I prefer to tease Damien to dealing with severe Damien.  I walked over and leaned on the bike as I looked at him.

"Can I help you?" He asked with annoyance.

"I'm just curious about something," I answered.

"What's that?" He asked as he continued to work.

"Are you the kind of guy who just rolls over and gives up or if you the guy that goes after what he wants?"  I asked him as he looked at me.

"What are you yapping about?"  He asked me.

"Let me refresh your memory. You bet me I would fall for you; I bet you I wouldn't.  With all the drinking you do, I'm surprised you have any brain cells left," I insulted Damien with a smirk.

He narrowed his eyes at me.

"Are you always a condescending bitch?"  He asked me.

"Do you even know what condescending means?"  I replied with a question.

"It means to talk down to someone or look down on them.  I'm not a complete moron," he retorted.

"You are if you are hung up on someone who's taken by someone else," I countered.

He gave me an irritated look.

"If you ever decide to get over your hang-up, you know where to find me," I said with a look as I turned and walked away.

I walked over to Elise, who looked at me strangely.

"What was that about?"  She asked me.

"It seems a particularly bad boy has a hangup on you, but he's about to have his world flipped upside down," I informed her.

She gave me a look. "You're crazy," she commented.

"Well, I'm bored, and you're busy with lover boy over there," I pointed at Rocco who was talking to Jagger.  "Plus, Damien needs to lighten up. He is a lot more fun when he isn't mooning over you."

Elise thought about it, then said, "Yeah, you're right.  Maybe you can cure his I'm bummed about my best friend's girl blues."

I laughed as she laughed, as well. We both left actually to hang out until Rocco got off work.  I had a feeling Damien was in for one hell of a surprise.  One way or another, I would make him lightened up. He's such a downer, Dan.

I sat there and rubbed my chin as I thought about Ramona said. This chick was something else.

"What's your deal?" Roc asked me.

"Dealing with some crazy chick," I answered as I sat there.

"Ramona?"  He asked with a look.

"This chick has been all up on my dick since we went to that stupid amusement park.  She's becoming annoying," I told him.

"That's because you want to show her little Damien," Roc mentioned as I gave him a disgusted look.  We turned to see Jag dry humping a pole.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Roc asked him.

"Pretending to be Damien with Ramona!"  He yelled across the shop.

I rolled my eyes as Roc chuckled.

"Just tap it already!"  He yelled at me.

"I'm not going to tap shit!  You need to get laid and leave me alone!"  I yelled at him.

"I swear he has issues, and you need to find a chick. You're both driving me nuts," Roc said as he walked away.

I went back to work on the bike. How is it the chick I want, I can't have and the one that drives me nuts, gives me a hard time?  Damn, I need a beer after work.  I have a feeling this chick was about to flip my world upside down, and I wouldn't even see it coming, figures.
