Damon AKA Mr. Russell
This makes no fucking sense.
Elle has a perfect record. All A's, minimal absences, perfect test scores, no disciplinary problems, all up until her sophomore year which according to her file was last year. She's missing half of her sophomore credits and was absent nearly the whole year.
It also shows she's been to a long list of schools all over the place. Texas. Colorado. Pennsylvania. Georgia. New York. And now Texas again. Why of all these places would she decide to get on track in this hellhole?
This is supposed to be her junior year in high school, but because she's so behind she's still technically a sophomore.
She's about to be seventeen in November...
That's technically eighteen.
No it isn't.
The lunch bell rings and all of the students move sluggishly towards the door except for Elle. She doesn't move at all. She just continues clicking away on her computer.
I'm supposed to take my break when all of the students leave but I have this feeling, I don't want to leave her in here by herself. Not because I don't trust her, but because I feel this strange protectiveness over her.
"Elle?" She turns around to face me.
"Yes sir?" Her soft voice is quiet as the words leave her pink lips.
Ooh we like that.
Shut up brain.
"You don't want to go grab something to eat?" I point towards the door.
"No thank you, I'm not really hungry." She shakes her head and offers me a small smile which I return.
"Would you be okay in here while I go grab my lunch from the lounge?"
"Yeah I'm fine." She nods and turns back to her computer.
I smirk at her back, no doubt she is.
I walk into the teachers lounge to find Mrs. Richards and the secretary sitting at the table. I nod to them and reach into the fridge for my lunch before walking out.
"You won't be joining us today Damon?" Mrs. Richards asks politely.
"No ma'am, Elle wasn't feeling very hungry so she's in my room at the moment. I don't want to leave her alone for long." She smiles and nods in understanding.
"I knew I chose the right teacher for her."
Elle
I work in the classroom all day. It isn't hard to ignore people when no one talks to me and honestly I don't mind it. I'm glad it's quiet and I don't have to worry about the commotion or anything to make me nervous.
One thing that definitely made me nervous was my new teacher. When I looked up to see him he stood over me and his eyes bore into mine, making me feel all tingly all over.
I definitely know why he's Mrs. Richards favorite teacher.
He really is the hottest teacher I've ever had, hands down. He is so tall and built. So smart and assertive. My daydreams are cut short when I hear the door slam.
"Elle?" My moms voice echoes in the class that I now realize is empty and I check the time.
3:50. As soon as the clock hit 3:45 I guess all of the students went home. I log out of my computer and go to stand by Mr. Russell's desk. He stands up as well and shakes my moms hand, introducing himself.
