I didn't leave my room that day, the only time I did was to get a pot of instant noodles from the Monomart for lunch. I wanted to stay in my bed. I checked the Monopad Chatrooms. Nothing.
...
...
...DING DONG!
DING DONG!"Uh... It's open!" The door swung open. To my surprise, it wasn't Roxy. But the other blonde haired girl.
"Riv?"
"Can you help me with something?"
"Uh..." Well, I have nothing better to do. "Fine."
She squealed with happiness, ran to me and dragged me to the kitchen."So, I had this incredible idea for chicken noodle soup! What do you think?" Riv ran around the kitchen, grabbing utensils and ingredients.
"Well... Hailey's vegetarian, so she wouldn't eat it." I looked in the fridge and pulled out some assorted vegetables. (carrots, peas, broccoli etc.)
"That's okay, we can make her a special batch with no chicken in it!" She put a cutting board on the counter and some chicken on it. "Oopsie! I forgot the knife. Can you get it for me, Bellatrix?" Riv looked at me and pointed to a drawer then continued setting up her work station. The knife in the drawer, huh? I opened the drawer and found an orange-handled knife, standard size.
Wait.
I could end it.The knife twitching in my hands... What do I do? Do I kill her and almost certainly die or...
I ran up to her, knife in hand and-
"Here you go." I handed her the knife. I didn't harm her. I really didn't want to. Riv smiled, starting to cut the chicken.
"Wait." She put down the knife and looked at me. "You were planning to kill me, weren't you?" For the first time, she was annoyed. At me.
"Yeah..." I looked to my toes and twidled my thumbs. "Sorry."
Instead of scolding me, she placed her hand on my shoulder."I understand."
"Thanks..."
"No problem. I look past these things, it is a good quality to have."
"So, why didn't you ask Clara to help you, or anyone else?"
Riv looked around and then back at me."Clara is still really sad at the motive. According to her, it showed her dad, the professor, she was distraught. She didn't even want to cook. Everyone else is too sad. I found out that Tiddles' 3 siblings were probably killed, Kashikoi was shown her friends' burger restaurant in flames and Katherine's 5 friends were all found dead bar one but was never told who."
"Oh." I thought about the others and their motives, everyone screaming about their loved ones.
We didn't say anything to each other whilst we prepared the rest of the meal. In the end, we had made 15 bowls of chicken noodle soup and one bowl of vegetable noodle soup for Hailey.6 pm came around quickly. Dinner time. I thought that most people would come, but only a select few showed up for dinner. Hailey, India and Tweety. So, we laid out the bowls of soup for those three, got a cart (with several layers), put the bowls of soup on it and wheeled it to the dorms. Riv took the cart to the boys' side of the dorms first, handing them the bowls of soup. They all looked happy at the sight of a homemade soup made with love. Then to the girls' side of the dorms. We handed the soup to them. Everyone looked happy. Well, except for Clara who took the soup from Riv and slammed the door in her face. Poor Clara...
We wheeled the cart back to the kitchen where the other 3 were already finishing the soup.
"Delicious!"
"Man, that was good!"
"Even without the chicken, this is great!"I sat at the table with a bowl of soup and looked at the other four and sighed, staring at my soup. I lifted the spoon to my mouth. It was good. Not as good as the pastries, but it was still amazing. Considering her speciality is baking, this isn't half bad.
Bedtime wasn't for a while, so I went outside and sat outside of the school. My hair flowed around, following the wind. I looked up at the steel shell of the school and the glass surrounding it. The night sky pierced through, like a javelin in the ground. The moon glowed, lighting up the dim night sky. I felt relaxed. At ease, for the first time since we got here. I could get used to this. A perfect night sky. The constellations were unique and the stars were too. The stars, huge planets turned into tiny dots.
I felt weight upon my eyes, I must be sleeping. Yes. I was asleep.
And I enjoyed it.
