Chapter 10

I went to school and Eben ate lunch with me. Surprisingly he was cool about everything which made me relieved. We carried on a normal conversation. I've been avoiding sitting with Emerson in or classes together and we haven't had any projects together lately which makes me feel good. The school day finished up and I went home. Riding the bus was weird even though I've been doing it for almost two months now. I didn't socialize with anyone anymore. I just put my ear buds in and listened to music the whole way home. We stopped at my house and I got off the bus. Unlocked my door after I fished my keys out of the bottom of my bag. My mom was sitting inside, with the biggest grin I've ever seen in my whole entire life. She was practically glowing.

"Well miss sunshine what's gotten in to you?" I asked walking to the fridge and pouring a glass of tea. She stuck out her hand and I was confused I didn't understand why until I saw the beautiful diamond ring resting on her finger. I nearly dropped the glass I was holding.

"Oh my god! No way!" I screamed. She laughed and couldn't stop smiling. "He proposed to me!" I was happy to her up until now she hasn't really found anyone she really liked. But after almost 6 months of those two love birds (I know it seems sudden but you will understand later) being with each other I guess they couldn't stand being apart for so long so he popped the question. I think it will be awkward and hard having a very attractive step brother. Then again I think having a brother in general would be hard.

I talked to my mom and just hung out with her. We had mother daughter bonding time and it was great, we haven't spent time together in a while. When she needed to go to bed she went upstairs. It was only 8pm but she had to get up at almost 2am I think. I also went upstairs in my room, clicked on the radio, and flopped on my bed. I was laying there enjoying the peaceful quiet atmosphere, when my phone buzzed. I was hesitating to look at it and I regretted my decision as soon as I looked.

Emerson: hey I don't know if you have the time or not, but if you didn't listen to my voicemail I would appreciate it. I never really got a chance to explain so hopefully you do and call me back.

I didn't know what to think, what to do, what to say, or what to trust. I was so scared and in fear of being hurt but I knew if I didn't this would constantly bug me for the rest of my life. I pressed play and everything I heard all made sense.

Finley I don't expect you to trust me or listen to me, but I want you to know EVERYTHING I'm saying is true. I wouldn't do anything to hurt you and the reason I was at Rachael's house and she told me she needed help with a surprise for you. Had I known she was doing that I would've never even considered going to her house ever because you're the most beautiful girl I've ever met and I wouldn't do anything to lose you. You are perfect even when you think you're not but really Finley put two and two together. Rachael was jealous of you and I didn't kiss her she punched me so I stooped down and kissed me right then and there I had no clue what was going on. I never wanted to hurt you...I... I think I love you and seeing you with other guys kills me. I just want another chance and for you to believe me. I wasn't the bad one here Rachael was I swear. Call me when you get a chance, bye.

And just like that he hung up. I was left in tears and couldn't decide what to do call him or pretend it didn't happen. I had a hard choice.
