Faye and Gerald were perched at the edge of their daughters hospital bed. A couple hours ago, Eileen was killed by lightning. Not killed exactly, she was still alive, but her parents were told that there was no hope for her.
Dr. Jerry Cooper was taking care of Eileen very well, but he looked surprisingly young to be a doctor.
"I understand you recently had another passing in your family." Dr. Jerry Cooper asked.
Gerald twiddled his fingers, "This morning..."
"I see," Dr. Cooper wants through some papers, "So tell me what happened to Eileen."
Faye stepped up, "Gerald had just returned home from... visiting Gwen. And Eileen had ran out the back doors and to the pool. Elli told us that she helped him out of the pool and then we heard her scream. That's when... when..." she started sobbing.
"Stop. She can hear you." Faye stopped.
Dr. Cooper inspected Eileen. He looked up at the two with a dark but reassuring grin on his face, "I think I might have something that can help her."
Faye and Gerald both look at each other with hope. "How?"
"I've been studying this for a couple months now. The energy blow was strong enough that I can channel the cause of her death into life and bring her back alive, but..."
"What?" Gerald asked.
"She can't live normally ever again." Dr. Cooper looked worried.
Before Dr. Cooper could explain, Garrett entered the room, clutching his chest. He was in the same hospital as Eileen. After surgery he immediately went to visit his granddaughter one last time.
Dr. Cooper wasn't going to have this, "You have to leave, sir."
"No." Garrett was going to put up a fight.
"You can say your goodbyes and then you must leave."
Garrett slowly walked up to Eileen, fell over her limp body and cried. Faye and Gerald joined him.
In this moment Faye realized she would do anything to keep her daughter alive.
"So how can you help her?"
"I can't say with him in the room." He gestured towards Garrett.
"Its okay." Faye assured Garret, "He can help her." He finally gave up and returned to his room. He needed his rest anyone, but he was glad he got to see his granddaughter. He hopes that she will notice the letter her put in her hand when she wakes up.
"So, I've done it twice before...." Dr. Cooper went through some drawers, "She will have... abilities... that the world cannot know about. Don't worry, I have a place." He shuffled through drawers some more and recovered a rusty key.
He pushed over a bookshelf and a secret door was hidden behind it. He opened it with the key and pulled out a candle from the compartment. It had a glowing blue and white light emitting from it.
Gerald and Garrett gasped, Faye screamed, as Dr. Jerry dropped the candle onto Eileen and her clothes were aflame.
Unexpectedly, the flame didn't burn Eileen. It grew larger and spread throughout her whole body. She absorbed it as faded into yellow, and started sparking.
Electricity.
Lightning.
