Chapter Ten – Make and Break.

I’ve always thought sex was a strange concept and it seemed inhuman and intrusive, I mean another person is putting their body part inside of you, weird. But it doesn’t feel that way, it feels amazing, like nothing you could ever imagine, it is calming yet gives you an unforgettable rush of adrenaline that makes all your senses feel alive. I don’t know if Mason was a virgin but I was so this experience was so new to me yet I felt like it knew exactly what to do. Mason knew too, he found every spot that made me tingle in certain places, spots that I didn’t even know had existed. He was gentle and romantic even though we were in my bedroom in the middle of the day. He didn’t seem to care about my undeveloped, non-perfect body type, but mostly he seemed happy to be with me, doing this, right now.

As we parted I smiled, Mason kissed me on the nose and I snuggled into him. As his arm moved up and over to cuddle me the sheets lifted up and I saw our two naked bodies underneath. I laughed softly and Mason gave me a puzzling look before realising that I was laughing because I had seen him naked, our bodies slowly entering each other again. He chuckled back and sneaked a look under the cover too before returning his lips to mine. As we parted for the final time we both laid there, hand in hand looking at the ceiling, when suddenly I heard a noise downstairs.

“Shit.” I whispered, my voice shaken, as I scrambled to get my clothes off the floor. Mason did the same thing and there was complete havoc as we desperately searched for our clothes. “You go into the bathroom, I’ll stay here.” I rushed Mason off as he did a short nudie run down the hall, I don’t think I’ve ever prayed harder in my life for my mum not to come up stairs. Thankfully she didn’t and Mason made it safely to the bathroom. However, she did walk into my room as I was putting on my shirt.

“What… did you?” my mother stumbled gesturing to the messy bed. “No, I just was in a rush this morning, remember?” Apparently that was a good enough answer as my mum nodded her head, seeming slightly convince. “Why were you wearing no shirt?” The questions just kept coming today, “I ah… spilt something on my other one, so I had to change.” She didn’t buy it, “What did you spill on it?” “Only water, said a voice from the hall, “But I told her to change so she didn’t get a cold.” I sighed gratefully as Mason stepped in, his hands half covering his eyes, “Is everyone fully clothed?” He asked, I giggled and he pulled his hands away. My mum still didn’t seem convinced but left anyway. Mason and I both breathed a sigh of relief.

When Mason left I went into the kitchen, starving from what I had done. My mum sat there with a cold cup of tea, staring out the window. I frowned, “Mum, is everything ok?” She turned around and I saw her eyes were puffy and red from tears. I boiled the kettle and sat down beside her, pouring her a fresh cup of tea. “Mum, what’s wrong?” She stared blankly out the window for a few minutes, her breathing jagged as she tried to hold back the tears, “It’s your dad, he’s going to be a father again.”

My mouth dropped open as I looked from my mums face to her belly. “No,” she shook her head noticing my looks. “Who, what, when, why?” I screamed, my tone rising with every word. The last question seemed to stick in my mind leaving me with an infinite amount of other questions. Why would he cheat on my mum, and me and our family… did we mean nothing? He had been married to my mum for over 20 years, and had been my father for 15 of them. Were they still married? Maybe that’s what my mum what sorting out at the bank, I glanced at her finger, there was no ring.
