Part 17

I woke up the next morning before everybody else and noticed Junior wasn't back yet. Was he that upset at having a child now? I looked at Mya getting ready to wake her up but I decided not to. Instead I walked away from her and the others. I flattened my ears after getting some distance away and looked back. Junior may not want a kid right now but I was to far along to give it up now. I turned away and at that moment heard Junior's howl. I looked back then took off quickly. I wasn't about to give up on not having my first kid. I ran as fast as my legs could take me and stopped at a small river. Taking a moment I walked through it and then crossed to the other side and continued on. Not knowing where I was or going. It was late afternoon when I decided to stop. I was curled up beside some bushes clearly exhausted and didn't notice some other wolves showing up till I heard 'Well now...whats a female like you doing without her pack?' I jumped up quickly seeing three males. Looked liked triplets. I took in a breath saying 'Go away...' 'Why you alone?' one with a certain dark marking on his ear said. I stretched then turned away saying 'None of your business.' The second, with a scar above his eye blocked me. I growled slightly and the third sibling slightly nipped my tail. I turned quickly and the second brother jumped on me. I tumbled forward and then bared my teeth kicking him away and jumped up taking off. They followed behind closely and cornered me at a small drop off. I turned around and then growled 'You want me....you can try!' The biggest sibling with the mark on his ear rushed at me and I tackled him to the ground when the second bit into my shoulder pulling me off and the third took it upon himself to catch my back legs. I whimpered trying to get a grip on the second then a howl split the air and they quickly took off. I whimpered trying to sit up when a dark grey looking female leaped out the bushes at me and pinned me trying to scratch at my belly then another wolf showed up and pulled her off. 'You idiot she's gonna have pups soon!' a male yelled. I struggled to get up and backed into a tree and four more wolves showed up. My human mind switched off and I flattened my ears and the male looked back at me saying 'Its alright we're not gonna hurt you.' I bared my teeth and suddenly all the wolves somewhat backed off. The male continued to look at me and then stepped forward and I growled some more. 'I am no threat to you, cousin' he said and my ears pricked slightly and I caught a weird feeling. Not so much as bad just unsure of how to feel. 'You can sense me can't you?' he asked and I blinked relaxing. The tone he used sounded familiar. I searched through my my mind trying to get a name. 'Wildfire' he said next and I blinked shocked and said 'Aiden' His tail waved slightly and I shook my head stepping slightly to the side and tried to think but couldn't and he came closer saying 'Breathe cousin breathe' I shut my eyes fainting.

When I came to again I was in a good-sized room laying in a bed in my human form. I sighed closing my eyes back. Wait a minute....I snapped my eyes back open and sat up quickly and looked at myself and then let out a scream and the door rushed inward. I saw my cousin standing in the doorway and I yelled "What did you do to me!" I got out of bed and he rushed over saying "Relax I made it so you can shift to and from wolf while you're still pregnant" I looked up at him then said "H...how did you...when did you... " He patted my head then sighed saying "I take it that your mother never told you" "Told me what?" I asked and he wrapped a muscular arm around my shoulder leading me out the door and downstairs and outside. I looked around seeing a few wolves walking around. "Alright what questions do you got?" he asked. I looked back at him saying "What are we?" "Pretty sure you've heard the term 'demon wolf' already. Well that's pretty much what we are but they're aren't very many of us left alive" he answered and I shook my head saying "What do you mean?" He sighed and began to explain while walking around with me at his side.

"So in the past I was the cause of the war?" I asked as we walked back out the trees. Aiden nodded and I looked down sighing. So I had wolf in me this whole time but it just never surfaced. He said that it more likely surfaced this time because Junior bit me. "So...so what's going to happen now?" I asked already dreading what he was going to say. "Well...since a pack already knows that our kind still exist it won't be long before others find out  and start looking for you as well." he answered. "And what about me being pregnant?" I said. "Zania...the thing is you nor the child will probably survive" he answered and I stopped walking. I stared at him saying "What?" He looked away saying "There's a chance that you, the child or both of you wont make it" He sounded to relieved when he said it. "You dont want me to...or the child" I stated and he stiffened. I back away and he looked at me saying "Its not like that...its just... I had no choice but to kill you the last time. Eventually you would've killed all of the elders including me even if you hadn't killed your father. His blood runs through your veins and more than likely the child as well...so if either of you survive..."-"You'd kill us either way" i said cutting him off. All my instincts were telling me to run now. But if I ran now him or somebody were bound to catch me. "And what would happen if I survive, the child survives and she doesn't have darkness in her?" I said starting to walk again. "....her?" He said. "Feels like a girl...now answer me" i replied. "Nothing...but you'd probably still be hunted down" he answered. I nodded and then said "Then I will hide" He stoooed me now saying "You must stay here Zania." "And if I refuse?" I said lifting an eyebrow. "You will be kept here?" A male answered and I turned seeing a older looking male. But i felt his power. He was an elder. I blinked saying "Then I will still find a way to get away" "Zania...will you stop being so stubborn and just behave" Aiden said. I frowned at him saying "You expect me to just sit around and possibly die" "We expect you to remember what is at stake right now" A female said now coming up. She was an elder as well. "Joelle" I stated bluntly crossing my arms. "Zania...the birth of that child is important" she said. I growled now saying "Important! If she comes out as a demon wolf you'll kill her. If she comes out normal she's still at risk of being hunted down by both hunters and other packs!" I was getting more upset by the second and I could feel that was gonna snap soon. I turned away from them going back to the house and Aiden followed saying "Znia you have to listen..."-" DON'T!" I snapped turning on him as he grabbed my arm. "Zania...just..."-" I SAID DON'T!" And snatched my arm back then got in his face my tone dark "I. Do. Not. Want. To. Listen" and turned away going back up to the room I woke up in and slammed the door. I sighed laying out on the bed closing my eyes to think. I could not stay here.
