Forever Friend (Link x Reader)

Chapter 2 - Unknown Hero

When Link and Blaze came around the bend they saw a scene that startled both of them.  For right by a tiny pond that was fed by a trickle of water from the rocks, was the white mare. Her teeth were baring and her nostrils were flaring as she was fighting off the village people who were trying to get to her. Link looked her up and down and saw that her left hindquarter had a nasty gash across it and she bleeding pretty bad from it.

That explains the scream. Link thought to himself.

Then he noticed the limp figure that was on the ground by the water. Holy Shit! That much be who she was dragging.

Link pulled up Blaze a short distance from the mare and jumped down to the ground.  Then he quickly but cautiously, started to approach the mare with his hands up in the air.  He moved towards her as he kept a steady slow pace.  All while ignoring the villagers as they kept talking among themselves.

"Easy girl. Easy" Link said as he kept his eyes on her as she frantically looked around at everyone as most of them just stood there gawking at her.

Then she turned and looked at Link. "It's alright. I just want to help you."

Link watched as she perked her ears towards him and closed her mouth.  Then her breathing started to slow down as she seemed to be calming down.  It was as if she recognized him. But how?

"Everyone. Please, back off." Link said as he kept walking forward all while never taking his eyes off of her.

"Not on your life pal.  We're not about to let a stranger get this prized beauty.  Your the one who needs to back off.  We got this one." One of the guys said as he tried to quickly move toward her with a rope in his hand.  "And I'm not about to let some skinny little peasant take this horse.  She's too pretty for that."

The mare quickly turned towards the man with her teeth baring.  She then lunged towards him.  He stumbled backwards as he tripped over himself as he tried to keep from getting caught by her.  Then the man quickly scooted back towards the rest of the crowd.

"I said back OFF!" Link yelled at the other people. "Don't you see, she's hurt and  frighten. And she's just trying to protect herself and her rider."

The crowd stopped and seemed to be taken back as some of them noticed the person on the ground for the first time. That was when the crowd slowly backed off and gave the mare and Link some space and they backed up to a safe distance. Link did a quick glance at them then turned back to the mare. Then he heard Blaze neigh from behind him. 

The mare seemed to stop in her tracks as she perked her ears towards the stallion as she looked  at him.  That was when Link realized that he had meet this horse before.   It was the white mare from the pasture.  Which means that the person on the ground must be.........

Link's heart raced as he glanced at you.  He knew then that he had to get to you before she trampled you by accident. He already knew that you were hurt, but he couldn't tell how bad from here. He had to get closer, and quickly. He kept walked up closer to her with his hands still in the air.

"Hey girl. Remember me? Remember Blaze?" Link said as he gestured towards Blaze. "We're your friends. We just want to help."

Misty slightly nickered as her body twitched. Link could see that the gash was pretty deep and jagged. He could only imagine the pain she was feeling right now. It was amazing that she even ran like she did, just to get the two of you away from the assailant. But he also knew that she was also scared and hurting which would have been a huge driving force in her escape. 

Link sighed as he tried to keep himself as calm as possible.  He knew that if he was calm, she would calm down too.  And he know that that was the only way that he was going to get anywhere near either of you.  And he had to get closer to both of you before he could fix either of you up.  And the only way to do that was for her to trust him.
