"Ouch!" You shouted as you felt a sharp pain fly across your back as Link tried to apply an healing ointment.
"Sorry." Link softly said as he continued with what he was doing. "But I have to do this if we're to ever get you healed up again."
"I know. It's fine." You said through clinched teeth.
You were once again sitting at the bench by the waterfall. But this time you had your naked back exposed to him as he tended to the severe scratches on your back from where you hit the tree. The force of the hit and how you slid down the bark had torn the back of your shirt wide open. And had put a few splinters in your skin. Link was carefully pulling these out and was treating the scratches by covering your back with a healing ointment.
"You do realize that you're starting to cost me a lot of rubies for clothes." Link said softly as he carefully ran his fingers over your tender skin.
You lowered your gaze as your cheeks heated up.
"I told you that I could just mend them." You quiey replied said as you turned your head and look at him over your shoulder.
"Not that I doubt your sewing skills." Link began before he held up a shredded cloth in his hand. "But no amount of thread is going to fix this I'm afraid."
You dropped your head back down as you looked away from him as you felt your the heat in your cheeks completely take over. "No. I suppose not."
"Now just try to relax so that I can finish." He said as you dropped your head more.
You couldn't help but to feel that you were being more of a burden to him now then an assistance. "Some partner I'm turning out to be. Every time I turn around I'm getting hurt."
"I wouldn't say that." Link said as he finished up with the ointment and put the cap back on the tube. "The first time, we weren't partners yet. And this time, you were just got caught off guard is all. And even that wasn't your fault. Because you were more focused on that little girl. Which her dad was grateful to have back home safe and sound."
"That may be true." You said as you started picking at your nails. "But....."
"No buts." He said as he gently placed the end of the bandage on your side before he slowly reached around you as he started wrapping it around your upper body. "It could have been either one of us. Especially since neither of us expected to be attacked like that this close to the village. It did show us that there is another temple here. And we were able to free one of the great fairies. So all in all, I think it was a very fruitful afternoon."
"It didn't feel like that to me." You said as he finished up and started to carefully pull down the shirt that he was letting you borrow.
"Well you should." He quietly said as he slowly ran his hand down your back as he enjoyed the feeling of you under his fingertips. "There are two of us in this partnership after all. And I don't want my partner thinking that their anything but a blessing to me. Okay?"
Your skin tingled as his fingers slowly moved down your back, leaving a wave of electricity flying through your body. No one had ever touched you like that before and you weren't quite sure why. But you wanted him to keep going. For it made your heart started to race and your breathing become short from the sensation.
But he slowly slid his hand off of you and placed it back on his lap. You had to take a quick breath as you straightened up and tried to calm back down your racing heart. You weren't sure what that had all been about. And you weren't sure if he had felt the same thing. All you could hope for was that it might be repeated in a more private setting.
