Lizzie Pink observed something Miańè did not.
A little shrine, or it could have been a catacomb, lay smashed near the bottom of the hole in the road.
A white marble coffin started to slide open.
If it were not for the snake that was about to send in strike number two, Lizzie was sure it would draw her attention, but the snake was indeed about to do so, thus, her attention was not drawn.
She scooped Miańè and leapt to the other side of the road just as the sidewalk she was on exploded, and the three story building next to it crumbled, and the snake started coiling up again.
The tomb, unnoticed, continued to slide open, and the marble tile that acted as the sealing lid fell to the ground with a thump.
Now, Lizzie looked at it with a greater interest, because now, a boy stepped out of it.
A boy, wearing robes, climbed out, rather elegantly, out off a tomb, that was buried under their desolate and empty neighborhood, and exposed only now, when a 300 foot tall snake crashed upon it with its almighty head.
