BASKETBALL COURT

As usual, the boys of building 7 gathered on the sports court of the condominium. Sometimes the neighbors from the 201 apartment also participated, as was the case that day.

The groups split between the 101 boys and Joseph on one team and Namjoon, Jin, Hoseok, and Mathew on the other team. Everyone was ready to play when the younger ones looked at each other.

"Wait, we're missing someone," Jimin announced and the others, other than the boys from 201, looked confused.

"Are you blind? Can't you see we're all there." Namjoon mocked and Kook hurried to explain.

"We invited the neighbor from the 301 to play."

Jung's eyes widened with that information.

"No, you didn't," Hoseok commented in complete reproach, his usual good humor immediately turning sour with a frown that no one there expected.

"Isn't he a friend of yours?" Joon asked with raised eyebrows.

"Yoongi young!" Tae waved to the boy that was leaving the building dressed in his old official equipment.

"Sorry, I'm late." Yoongi lamented as soon as he reached the group. "Oh, you already have a complete team." He noted when seeing the even number of members.

"Some idiot couldn't do the math right." Hoseok accused, glaring at the maknae line.

"Hm, maybe we'll play next time." Yoongi murmured scratching his nape as he noticed everyone's discomfort.

"Don't go hyung! It's okay if we play with an odd number, isn't it?" Tae asked with his big eyes, impossible to resist.

Nobody but Hoseok was opposing the participation of the new neighbor. Realizing that this was a losing battle, the boy with the flaming red hair ended up giving in.

"Quick, let's start this game." His confirmation made the youngsters celebrate and the teams split on the field.

Maybe Hobi was wrong in being so hard and cold with his ex-best friend, but when it came to Soora he ended up being extremely protective. He didn't want the same tragedy to be repeated twice, he didn't want to lose another sister. Much less lose it because of Yoongi. Again.

Hoseok didn't really blame Yoongi for what had happened to his sister. Dawon was already very ill long before and what happened between her and Min was just the last straw. Dawon's entire family and friends blamed the boy: perhaps if he hadn't left her, perhaps if they hadn't fought, perhaps this, perhaps that... But Hoseok knew that Dawon just needed an excuse to take her life and Yoongi was it.

More than his entire family suffering her loss, Yoongi was the one who was most devastated by the added guilt he felt. Using that guilt to send him away was a low blow and Hoseok knew it perfectly well, but was he so wrong to use all resources to protect Soora?
