The days afterward were subdued. It was quiet; an unnatural hush had fallen over the academy, as if people were afraid of being heard. Most moved along in groups, perhaps afraid of another attack.
Some nobles had granted their children bodyguards, as the school term was now delayed by the board of Academy Governors for them to investigate the security breach.
Many rumors passed along in silence.
Amidst all the chaos that had happened, Ayame walked alongside Jiro, maintaining proper distance and keeping their usual silence.
They walked out of the Academy, right after visiting Ayame's brother, Keiji, to ask for his permission to leave the Academy. All of it was formality, as Ayame wouldn't have given a damn if Keiji agreed or not.
They headed for Loomlight City, and Ayame decided to speak to Jiro more often, and move differently, using a different manner of speech. Jiro caught on and started to reveal an impassive side that he'd usually use on people that wasn't Ayame. It would be too suspicious if Jiro treated Ayame the same way he treated Kitiara Sayua.
People with brains would be able to immediately deduce that she bore an uncanny resemblance to Kitiara Sayua, especially with her almost mute way of speaking.
They made their way through the bustling streets of Loomlight, Ayame leading the way as she maintained casual conversation with Jiro.
Jiro noticed that the streets they were trekking had less people. In fact, the more they walked, the lesser people they would come across.
Ayame had long fallen silent. She looked calm and unfazed.
They continued to move forward.
Soon, they reached a shady part of Loomlight City. There was hardly any people here, and if there were, they would ignore Ayame and Jiro and simply disappeared into their dingy and unkempt houses.
Ayame musingly compared it to the red district of her world in her mind.
They passed by brothels, bars, and suspicious looking 'arenas' where muscular people gathered. Once or twice, Ayame caught sight of someone paying a person money for a bag that looked suspiciously like it held a body inside.
Jiro didn't question anything. In fact, he looked amused and almost excited. They both threw their hoods over their heads as they continued to venture further downtown.
Eventually, Ayame stopped before a decent-looking shop. The painted sign before its front doors showed dark, bold letters.
AZULE EXAMINERS; EXAMINERS OF CURSED OR POSSESSED (even possessing) ITEMS.
The shop was dimly-lit, but its doors seemed to be in good order, so Ayame, still taking the lead, pushed it open and went inside.
The minute they arrived inside of the shop, it started to brighten. The shop looked like a cross between an antique store and a book store. Old, aura-emitting objects sat in clear, well-kept glass cases. Shelves of books on how to properly curse objects, how to 'cure' certain curses, the properties of a mixed curse, and many more.
A long glass cases kept a dozen glittering accessories, and it seemed to glow dimly as Ayame approached them. The shop was fairly larger than what it looked like from the outside, and as Ayame approached the front counter, she suspected the shop was even bigger than what it seemed now.
Jiro quietly followed Ayame, his eyes swiftly examining the shop as they entered.
Once they reached the front counter, a small bell appeared out of thin air, levitating before Ayame.
