Chapter 1: A Normal Day

Wysteria is an orphan. She never knew her parents. When she asked the workers at the orphanage, they didn’t know anything. She has Albinism. Now she is 16 years old and is still living at the orphanage. Let’s face it, no one wants a kid who can’t see five feet in front of their face. It’s not all bad though, the people at the orphanage are really nice, and her best friend lives there too. Her name is Jasmine.

Jasmine is like Wysteria’s personal body guard. Ever since the first year of school Wysteria was bullied because she couldn’t do the things all the other children could do and she looked different as well, with the snow-white hair and icy-blue eyes that wiggled slightly. Jasmine was different though. She stood up for Wysteria and protected her from most of the bullies. After a while no one picked on Wysteria, for fear of Jasmine. Every now and then some poor soul will try to bully Wysteria, but they are quickly put in their place by Jasmine

Now they are in high school and have part-time jobs at a cafe near the orphanage. Wysteria works as the cashier and Jasmine is a waitress.  The orphanage is in a small town called Meadowgrove. Everybody knows everybody. If you have anything to hide it will be found out. That’s how small the town is, but lately it’s been growing because everyone has heard about how good the high school is. Lots of new students means lot’s of new people who don’t know not to mess with Wysteria. This is where our story begins………

Wysteria was walking down the hallway to her favorite place in the whole school, the library, when a tall  boy named Jason approached her.

“Hey, ghost girl. Where are you going with that stupid smile on your face?” He  asked, smirking.

“Th-The l-library.” Wysteria managed to squeak out. She clutched the books she was carrying closer to her chest and shrunk back in fear. Next thing she knew her back was against the wall and Jason was towering over her.

“It must be hard to read with those wiggling eyes of yours.” He taunted, slamming his hand against the wall by her head.

“L-Leave me alone, Jason.” Wysteria said trying to be brave, but it was hard when he was glaring at her with almost black eyes

“I don’t think so, ghost girl.” He smiled evilly raising a fist to punch her. Wysteria closed her eyes waiting for the blow, but it never came.

“And just what do you think you’re doing, idjit boy?” Came a sinister, but very familiar voice. Wysteria opened her eyes and saw her blond-haired, brown-eyed best friend Jasmine stopping Jason’s fist in mid-punch.

“Who are you calling an idjit, blondie?” Jason spat angrily.

‘Uh oh.’ Wysteria thought. ‘He shouldn’t have said that.’ Jasmine’s eye twitched in anger. Then she flipped Jason over her shoulder and he hit the floor with a thump.

“Are you ok, Sterie?” Jasmine asked using the nickname she had given Wysteria long ago.

“Yes, I’m fine, but I might have had a pretty nasty black eye or busted lip if you hadn’t shown up when you did.” Wysteria said going over and hugging her friend. Jason scrambled to his feet, took one look at Jasmine and ran off down the hallway in the opposite directi

“He won’t bother you anymore.” Jasmine smirked. Wysteria smiled.

        “Nope.” She laughed.

“Now, you were going to the library, right?” Jasmine asked. Wysteria nodded. “Good. I’m going there too. I need to return a book I borrowed.”And together they walked to the library, laughing at how scared Jason looked as he ran away.

They checked out the books they wanted and walked out. School was over, so they were headed to their part-time job at The Hole in the Wall Cafe. When they got there they changed into their work uniforms and began their shifts.

After work they ate dinner at the cafe and walk back home to the orphanage talking and laughing about their favorite books, Anime, and songs. Since the orphanage was really old and small they shared a room. They would do homework, watch anime, then go to bed. Pretty normal, right? Not for long.
